Birdlip accommodation from NZ$157

We booked 2 'classic double view' rooms and 1 dog friendly room for a family weekend in September. We had a lovely time overall but got off to a rocky start when we discovered that the 'view' is not what you expect from the app images in that these rooms are situated around an inlet from the lake meaning that your primary view is of the rooms opposite and then there is the water mostly full of rushes below. I do love a view which is why I wanted to come here in the first place. The kids weren't so bothered. Anyway, my husband and I asked to change rooms and, after initially being mistakenly sent to a room with a tiny window, finally were given a room with a balcony so at least we had a view of the lake to the right from the balcony. The staff were lovely and accommodating and it's lucky we arrived early so we could change rooms as they were fully booked. It's the marketing I blame. It is not made clear from the photos what the view actually is so be warned if you are like me and the view is important to you. Once settled, our room was clean and the bed very comfy. Sadly, there was no handheld shower only a drench which is not ideal if you want to wash your whole body! We didn't try the breakfast as we didn't all want the full works so £19.95 seemed very expensive.
