The room was excellent! Staff very friendly, the only thing I didn't like was a room service woman banging on my door about an hour and a half to check out time. Aside that, the Residence Inn by Marriott at Downtown, South End, Boston, is the best hotel experience I have ever had.

Desk clerk was amazing! She was quite cheerful, professional, and helpful. We'd gotten in about dinner time, and being new to Boston, we didn't know either the neighborhood or the restaurant scene, so we asked her advice. She pointed us to several places nearby which we then went to in successive forays over the next few nights. They were all hits, with one losing a better personal rating for overly loud music. She helped make our stay successful.

We booked our stay here for work. We had a coast-to coast red eye flight and were dead tired. We came in to the hotel early to see if we could have them hold our bags. Alas, they had a room ready for us. It literally saved our life, as we could take a nap, because who can sleep on a plane? The room was clean, the staff very, very helpful and accommodating. It is in a walkable location to the hospital district and to other areas like the Prudential Center, etc. Appreciate the hotel staff looking out for weary travelers!

Hotel was fine, valet system was pretty bad though. $55 a night, and the other option for parking was find a spot on the street in Boston. They don’t mention the charge until you check out. Also the system broke and I got hundreds of repeat text messages from the valet service, even after I had been check out and home for hours, ultimately couldn’t be fixed and I just had to block the number

Second time staying here. In a safe and walkable neighborhood. Easy walk to restaurants and cafes. Close to buses and train stations. Grocery store right across the street. Staff has friendly and accommodating. When my daughter graduates next spring we are staying here again. Two thumbs up.

I arrived and checked in after 11pm but it was no problem, the colleague on the desk whose name I cannot recall (possibly Robert) was extremely helpful and friendly. The room was super clean, was very comfortable. The included breakfast was good, mixture of cereals, muffins, waffles as well as some hot options such as scrambled eggs and sausages. I would highly recommend this hotel.

The room was very clean and spacious. Staff were friendly and welcoming. It was so handy to have a kitchen area to prepare food. The hotel was only an 8 minute walk to the T stop at Ruggles. The area felt safe during the day, however we can't say what it was like at night as we had normally returned early evening. Breakfast was complimentary, but selection was small- still a nice addition though.

You can hear the flushing of the toilets from the rooms above. A mediocre room cleaning is only offered every other day. The hotel is otherwise in pretty good shape and clean. The area around the hotel does not have any coffee shops or restaurants. The hotel lobby can only be accessed by room key to keep out the homeless people in the area. The police patrols the area to lower the crime rate.
