We enjoyed our stay. It was quite and for the most part peaceful. We did wish it was more energetic. The events end early around 1030. They need more activities and at night needs to be more lively with music and people gathering together to enjoy the nights. Overall clean and staff helpful.

We recently spent 7 days at this Mexican resort and enjoyed many aspects of our stay. The pool entertainment was fun, and the variety of evening shows kept things lively. We appreciated the intimate size of the resort and its diverse dining options. Included were 4 visits to the three on-site restaurants —none of us loved the Mexican restaurant, but we really enjoyed the beef kabobs and salmon at the seafood spot and many dishes at the Italian restaurant. The buffet was decent, a bit under seasoned but generally good. A major plus was the wheelchair accessibility. Everything is on one level (except for the snack bar, though its offerings are available at the accessible buffet), and even the beach is easy to navigate thanks to its thin layer of sand over hard-packed ground. On the downside, the beach wasn’t ideal for ocean swimming—you can only wade to waist-deep before hitting a barrier with weeds and constant boat traffic. If you’re hoping to swim in a turquoise ocean, this may not be the best choice. We ended up taking a taxi to a public beach for a proper swim, which meant missing out on the all-inclusive amenities. Also, the website was misleading, as extras like paddle boards, a teenage nightclub, and snorkeling required additional costs. Overall, we rate the resort 8/10.

Nice place ; the resort is very small though and so is the beach area. The place is old so you can tell with the decor Wake up early if you want beach chairs. Staff is very nice but some are very pushy with sales in terms of a tour of their other property. Also house keeping wasn’t the best in terms of the washroom The resort is at the end of the of the hotel zone so you’re pretty far from a lot of action (I.e mall, restaurants etc.)

Occidental is exactly what you pay for. For the price it’s good, but definitely not amazing. The food is mostly bad, some good stuff here and there. The restaurants you make reservations for are terrible. Got several things on the menu to find something good and it was just horrible. The service was great and the drinks, pool and beach were very good as well. Can’t complain because of how reasonable the price was but not good food at all. Just be prepared for that.
