The resort was a short drive from Cancun airport. The staff were all very helpful. Property was clean and well kept. It is joined with its sister resort, Royal Solaris, so we had the use of their facilities as well. We preferred to stay on the GR side though as it is a smaller and quieter resort. We had great meals at the A la Cartes and the breakfast buffet in the Solaris Cafe was excellent. This resort is at the beginning of the hotel strip so you would need to take the bus to get to the shops.
Just a few cons for us:
- Although the beach was nice and there were lots of chairs, we weren’t able to swim much as red flags were posted all week. We had a couple of days where one small section had a yellow flag. Hopefully it was just a fluke of the weather that week.
- Our room was on the 4th floor. We had to climb many stairs to get to it. There were a lot of stairs all over the resort to get to different places.
- The air conditioner was quite loud. Our room had a bit of a smell to it.
- The resort was a bit outdated. We would have liked to have a balcony off our room.
- The lobby bar was small so not really anywhere to go for a drink in the evening. No beach bar either. So had many stairs to climb to go for water, etc.
