It's away from the Magnificent Mile but not too far. Think midtown for Times Square, idk lol. Close to Loyola Chicago, Northwestern, and the Modern Contemporary art museum. Nice hotel. For a higher end hotel, they are pretty eco friendly, which I like. My room was not high up but it sure felt like I was with the city view. Room is spacious, very clean - bathroom rivaled Caesars Palace and the Venetian with none of the rundown leaks or looks. The staff are genuine and nice. Did not check out their amenities at all, but why would you when you're in the Loop? Great value for what I paid, under 2 a night.

We haven't been to this hotel in a few years. It is always going to be one of our favorites. I was disappointed with a few changes they made. 1. No scent of Verbena when you enter the hotel. It was always something I enjoyed and stayed with me. The smell was so calming and enjoyable. They also eliminated the personal-sized bottles of verbena hand lotion. 2. The bed was not as comfortable as previous visits. It was very firm and not soft. 3. No pasteries at the restaurant. Those were usually handed out as a freebee at breakfast. The staff was top-notch and very friendly and accommodating. I do miss the scent of verbena throughout the hotel.

The Sofitel is always a wonderful stay with quiet room tastefully decorated, a staff that anticipates a need before it is revealed. The toiletries are not overly perfumed and leave a pleasant and clean scent. Wonderful service.
