A good hotel in Chicago for a good price

A nice place to stay, very close to the downtown area. Everything was great, I just found the bed/pillows not that comfortable, but that might just be me. Also, the elevator in the gym area was not working.

Decent hotel but unexpected fee & long wait times

I appreciate the history of the hotel, the location is convenient, and the room was perfectly fine. But the hotel is understaffed as I had to wait ten minutes for a bellhop on two occasions when dropping off and picking up a suitcase. Also, I was angry at the unexpected $25 fee for services like WiFi and the fitness room, things that are standard at other hotels, and something that wasn’t made clear on the booking page. I don’t like being nickeled and dimed, especially when Hotels.com says “this is the price you pay” when you make your reservation. So I wouldn’t stay here again simply because of the bait and switch. Also, the rooms aren’t very soundproof, and there’s a fire station and hospital nearby with plenty of sirens.

Beautiful vintage property with lovely service. The bed in room 1119 was not good. Mattress was very uncomfortable and room set up off. You couldn’t watch tv from either the bed or couch area. Had to sit in front of the desk to see - so had to rearrange two side chairs - not cozy at all. No counter to store toilet items in bathroom.

Stay in a Pretty Piece of History

This hotel is a really pretty piece of history! It’s right in downtown Chicago. I’m not sure why it asked about being beachfront, because we were not by any beaches. The hotel room was quaint and comfortable. The bathroom is updated. The front staff wasn’t very friendly, especially at check in. They seemed like they were being disturbed by your questions. Otherwise, it was a good experience!

This hotel was in a great location not far from Navy Pier. We were able to walk to everything we wanted to eat and do other than the Cubs game. I would stay at this hotel again. The only reason I give 4 stars and not 5 was because the sirens kept us up all night. The sirens sounded like they were in our room. The Bell Man was AMAZING!
