We had an accessible room that worked well. The hotel is very old and has character, in the centre of town.....but the food and drink is far below standard. I went down fir a drink at the bar, which was empty. that should have been a warning. A half pint of Guiness cost GBP4.90, and found out later that a really nice bar 50 metres away , it was GBP2.30. We ate at the resturaunt and that too was very disappointing. Steak pie was just OK, biut my wifes chicken pie was tough chicken. Had a huge piece of pastry covering the plate. This hotel could be fantastic, with a little more care. Checkin and cleaning staff were excellent.

Central, with an impressive, welcoming foyer.

Pros: Location.
Cons: Fans offered to customers during hot weather and efficient wifi.
Location: Central and easy to walk to restaurants, shops and some historical attractions.
We happened to stay there during hot weather - yes, in Inverness! While we weren't surprised the hotel wasn't prepared for temperatures in the high 20s, our muggy room with no air movement left us with little sleep. As our room overlooked the train station platform, we also had to put up with lights and a noisy rumble all night. We could have closed the window and heavy drapes, but chose breathing along with the semblance of air, over quiet! I did think of asking for a fan, but by then it was midnight and I didn't have the energy - and kept hoping it'd get cooler........ The wifi was so slow I couldn't actually connect properly, though was able to register. The next morning when I tried to log on, it told me my details were incorrect. I gave up, yet now, 30+ miles north of Inverness, where we're staying on a farm and were told the internet would be slow, I have much better service! Not good enough for the 'capital of the highlands'. On a positive note, the staff were pleasant and location great for our needs. Fiona, on the front desk, helpfully ensured I was in a room with walk-in shower, as per my request when I booked through Woif. I had rung the day before to check on this, and found that request had not been passed on - not happy Wotif!

thank you for your comments. It is rather unusual for the weather to be so warm and all rooms do in fact have fans all year round and if you did not find yours we would gladly have assisted and provided another for you. Our wi fi is provided by external service and we will pass on your comments to them we are glad you enjoyed your stay otherwise

Real life Fautly Towers

The only way to truly describe this place accurately is like a real life version of faulty towers. Breakfast was a really odd experience. The food was of the poorest quality but the staff almost made it almost humorous. There were so many staff constantly rushing in and out of these two doors doing nothing and then returning. There is a juice machine (didn’t know what was a thing) which the staff where constantly queuing behind quests to get themselves a glass. I saw one worker alone have three glasses of juice in the thirty minutes I was there. I actually had staff reaching over and across me to grab plates of food I had finished with while waiting for my other half to stop eating. The scrambled eggs were white and didn’t look anything like an egg, the bananas were green and the croissants tasted like pastry that had been left in the freezer five years too long before being cooked. Then we have the rooms.. while clean, the room was so incredibly small we had an issue housing two medium sized suitcases. The bathroom needed to be squeezed into, and was able to fit one person maximum at all times. I requested that we might be able to change rooms as we were literally walking on our belongings. Other thing to note are that there is no AC or fridge provided in the room. While parking is said to be included on the website, there are only around five spaces at the front for free otherwise you are forced to walk to the nearest shopping centre and pay five pounds

Exceptional convenience for train travellers. The foyer and stairs are grand. The weather was very warm and with no air conditioning and a window opening onto a central internal area popular with the local pigeons, there was no way to bring relief from the heat. The breakfast area was beautiful and the array of food was amongst the best. As Australians, we are used to small fridges in hotel rooms but accept that it isn’t the done thing in the UK. Makes it difficult for non-tea and coffee drinkers to get cold water.
