In Kapaa, you can do absolutely nothing—really. Don your togs for a swim and sunning day at Anahola Bay, north of Kapaa. To explore the city above sea level, don’t be too noisy as you hike Nounou Mountain, known also as “The Sleeping Giant.” Of course, even the most secluded getaway should involve getting to know the local history. Visit Kamokila Hawaiian Village, a cultural center with regional food tastings, film screenings and re-creations of ancient architecture, located near Secret Falls. Shh, don’t tell anyone.
