We stayed here six years ago on a previous visit to Kyoto. Our experience then was so positive that we never even considered staying anyplace else this visit. We were there for four days this time, using it as our base for touring the area. The train station is literally across the street, making transportation as convenient as it could possibly be. The staff are very professional and when required will go above their basic duties to help. My wife, for example, left her eyeglasses at our previous stay in Matsumoto. The staff made the call to that hotel and arranged for the missing eyewear to be sent to the Hankyu. Two days later, there they were, thanks to their effort! Much appreciated. Would we stay here again if in the area? Absolutely!

Good location and clean & comfort

The staffs here friendly and the location of hotel is right opposite the Kyoto Train Station. Room condition also clean and comfortable. Lobby can be improved with my seats for people who waiting for check in or friends.

Great stay and wonderful staff.

We very much enjoyed our 2 night stay at the Hotel New Hankyu Kyoto. Location was amazing, right across from the train station which allowed us to get around easily. We had 4 in a room and though it was a little crowded we were so grateful that the option was available. The beds were a tad hard but we all slept well. The front staff was incredible helping with a passport that got lost on the train. The gentleman and woman that helped us were so kind and worked hard get in touch with the right people and we had a passport in hand within 4 hours. Overall it was a great stay!

An older hotel but still very updated and had all amenities needed. We liked the double sinks in our superior triple room to accommodate the 4 people in our group. The location is literally across the street from Kyoto station so it was so nice when our bullet train came in super late at night and for getting around to the places we were visiting in Kyoto. Although on the main street basically in the middle of town, it was not loud and sleep was not disrupted by any means. Few staff were able to communicate to us in English but we needed to pull out google translate a few times. A tad difficult to figure out communication when our next hotel/city where we were trying to transport luggage to was a self check in one, so we needed to send our stuff to a sister hotel nearby. Various phone calls were made and we were held up at the front desk for a while but we are thankful to the staff for figuring it out and their patience for what is not an easy situation for both ends.

The hotel is next to the central train station and walkable to many locations and a few shrines. On the same block there is a downstairs food court that has an excellent Waygu Hamburger. And the price for the hotel was very reasonable.
