The hotel is realatively new and clean with a Japanese traditional feel. Staff are friendly and helpful. They speak fluent english and had no problem communicate with foreigner. Location is good. About 10min walk from Kyoto main station which is where subway and shops are located as well. Plenty small local restaurants arounds. I would definitely come back here again next time when we visit Kyoto

Splendid stay in old charm Kyoto style hotel
Didnt realize there are so many Mitsui Garden Hotel, and i went to the wrong one near Kyoto station which is only 5 mins walk. Finally arrived at my hotel via taxi (12 mins). Hotel was very zen and minimalistic yet cozy with traditional Kyoto charm. It is about 8 mins walk to the KR train station, and the main street has restaurant, convenience store, and further 10 mins away is a vibrant shopping street with Louis Vuittion, Takashimaya, Daimaru, Tokyu Hands, bookstore and more. Hotel reception was most helpful in recommending my free day with a visit to Kiyomizudera Temple which is a tourist spot i was hoping to find, after some 20 years which i had no memory of. And finally i enjoyed the 3 days at the Onsen, and i will definitely recommend this hotel to all visiting Kyoto

Not enough lighting
I was disappointed that the hotel room I stayed did not have a real window to get natural sunlight. Also the room was decorated with dark tone colours that was nicely designed but it was dark altogether, not enough light to read a book or operate computer.

Staff is wonderful and rooms are very nice. Enjoyed our stay in Kyoto as hitel is a short walk from the main street shopping area and close to public transportation. We used taxis which for the size of this city are not very expensive.
