A lovely quaint hotel fantastically located near Paddington station and Hyde Park. Perfect for our trip to Winter Wonderland. The staff were friendly, the rooms immaculately cleaned and the Victorian style bathrooms very cute. House keeping was also very good and changed our towels and made the bed.
Sadly there are some cons. The lift was out of service (and from the reviews it sounds like this is a recurring problem, not a one off) and our room was located down what felt like a service passage behind the kitchen. This was made quite inconvenient when we arrived with suitcases because they had decided to stack tables and chairs in this narrow hallway for an event. So thanks for that.
The “large” room is not very large, and not suitable for 2 people. There is a “wardrobe” that can hold exactly one coat, a single luggage rack, two small bed side tables and a windowsill. There are no other surfaces to put things on so the majority of our stuff ended up on the floor.
We were quite sad to discover no in-room kettle. This is a basic facility provided by the worst premier inns. Instead your only option is the very expensive coffee place in the lobby. The free water bottles and refill station was a nice touch though.
The room was also very cold in November, with a single pane window and a tiny radiator that did little to heat the room.
Our biggest complaint by far however is that our window was located at the front of the building and there are multiple pubs next door and a
