Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding your recent stay with us at the Stewart Hotel. We'd like to personally apologize on behalf of our entire team for the issues you encountered in your guestroom, specifically feeling that it was dirty, old and dated. We are excited to inform you that we are actively working to drastically improve the condition of all of our guestrooms and the cleaning standards to the new “Stewart Standard.” We have already made amazing strides to ensure guest comfort and satisfaction. We are disappointed by your less than perfect experience and hope that you allow us a second opportunity so that we can show you the incredible strides we have already taken to make the Stewart Hotel your hotel of choice in NYC.

Stewart Hotel stay

Pros: location
Cons: A fitout of bathrooms would be good
Location: close to everything. A great location
Had a surprise on checkout of a $35 per night use of facility fee?? I never used the gym etc. These charges should be included in the room rate if they are going to be charged regardless of using them or not rather than surprising people at checkout. other than that the facilities are basic but a great location.

High hopes, but left disappointed and tired

Pros: Position to Penn station, hotel restaurant
Cons: Provide some earplugs for the street noise, put an escalator at the front of the hotel to access the street, freshen up the bathrooms in the rooms
We booked this hotel as it was across the road from Penn Station and we wanted somewhere close following our trip from DC. The lobby of this hotel is beautiful and we were extremely impressed with how modern and classy this place seemed. We booked a deluxe room, and we were placed on the 8th floor. The room was a nice comfortable size, however the bathroom was tiny. Showering was genuinely difficult due to the limited space. Neither of us could barely turn around (we are not big people either, I am a size 2 US, partner is a size medium in clothing). The noise from the room was also ridiculous. I understand this is to be expected when staying in NYC. I wish we were placed on a higher floor so we could get a good nights sleep before our flight home. Our bad night's sleep ruined our final night in the USA. The one other thing we enjoyed about this hotel was the restaurant. Although they would not serve us alcohol without our passport present, you get a discount if you stay in the hotel. The food was very enjoyable and was a great celebration to our final night in the USA. When we checked out, getting luggage down the flight of stairs to the street level is a nuisance. This is such a simple design flaw. One of the staff helped us with this (which meant tipping). I would not recommend this hotel for anyone unless you bring earplugs (in case you are placed in a low level room), and can deal with the small showers.

Great hotel in a perfect position

Spent Xmas / New Year week at Manhattan NYC. So close to everything. Any noise reminds you you're in New York and is far from annoying.

Excellent location comfortable hotel

Excellent location but can be quite noisy at night. Also too much light coming through the curtains at night. Overall very good value considering the great location on 7th Ave.

Central but noisy

Pros: Comfortable bed, clean room
Cons: Soundproofing rooms, ensuring all staff know basic policies
We got this in a Mystery Hotel deal at the last minute. The price was cheaper than booking directly, but the value was worse (the regular wotif site had Deluxe suites for the same price as a standard suite, but in the Mystery Deal we got a standard suite for about 10% cheaper per night, with the option to pay much more than this for an upgrade - the original Deluxe deal would've been much better). We were happy with the standard of the room itself, but it was facing 7th Ave and very noisy - police and firetruck sirens and car horns going most of the night. We had asked for a quiet room at the back, and they said it was "in the middle" which was garbage - it felt like they gave us a poor room so that we'd upgrade. Staff and services were generally good but not great. We asked for extra pillows, but they only had 1 extra (in a massive hotel?). We asked in advance for late checkout and were told it would be no problem if the room wasn't booked, but on the final day we had a rude staff member (Maria?) tell us our checkout was actually 11, when the information book in the room said 12. She "graciously" extended it to 12 (the original checkout time) threatening us with a $150 fee if we were any later. It soured our experience a bit to have to deal with a curt staff member that got their basic policy wrong.

Dear peegee, Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your stay. I am pleased to hear you were comfortable in your clean accommodations. However, I am disturbed to read some of your other comments about our customer service. I apologize that are staff seemed very harsh and brash, as that is not typical. Within the last year, we have changed our check-in and check-out times so that is probably where the confusion came in. We hope we can welcome you back in the future. Sincerely, Glenda Maldonado Hotel Manager
