Hotel is nice but the second-floor room was directly on top of a bar that played dance music til 2am. With bass thumping, nobody in my family could sleep. It was as if we were staying at a cheap roadside motel over a nightclub, not one of Ottawa's premium hotels! When I came down at 11 because of the noise, staff knew what I was going to say before I even finished my sentence -- clearly this is a known issue. We were given ear plugs, breakfast vouchers and a modest amount off the cost of the room. That was appreciated but nothing makes up for conditions guaranteeing a sleepless night -- violation of the baseline service a hotel should offer. The rooms over that bar should not be in use.

We had a wonderful weekend at the Lord Elgin. Room was clean and nicely decorated. Only complaint would be that the outlets on the night tables, did not have the amps required to charge our phones. Otherwise lovely stay, and best part was the efficiency of the valets. They were amazing.

We were disappointed with our stay at this hotel. We were expecting a high-end establishment, but it turned out to be closer to a 2-star experience. Between the persistent unpleasant odor in the room and bath towels with a vinegar scent, a noisy and inefficient air conditioner, we also encountered dubious tissue residues floating in clumps throughout the pool. In addition, in the lobby, containers of lemon-infused water were offered to guests with cardboard cups. The trash bin was overflowing with used cups, yet no staff member seemed to take care of it. The only positives were the location—just a short walk from Parliament and the By Market—and the warm, friendly staff.

Room in excellent condition, friendly helpful staff, beds are very comfortable. Valet parking ( can access your car 24 hrs a day), easy to access busses or taxi. In house restaurant. Lots of stores within walking distance for plenty of shopping.

Another Good Stay!

We love this hotel and stay every time we visit family in Ottawa. This time, I noticed the bed was kind of hard, and I did not sleep particularly well. That is a personal thing, as my wife was fine.

Love the location. They called my truck (1500) an oversized vehicle and refused to park it. They sugested parking it at city hall across the street. City hall is a good place to park but it isn't cheap.

Overall, the hotel was very clean and orderly. The hotel staff were very, very nice. The only comment would be that the service in the restaurant was below expectations. For instance, each time we visited for a meal or drink, it seemed that it took an extraordinary amount of time for a staff member to come to the table to ask us if we would like to start with a beverage. That being said, they were mostly pleasant.
