The staff was great. The room was quite large and bed was comfortable but room definitely had a musty/moldy smell to it. This property is an older property and was once a prime facility. Its a bit outdated though the grounds are very beautiful and the location at the excluded end of the beach was lovely. The breakfast buffet and a la carte weekday menu was mediocre at best. The pastries were not fresh and neither was the juice. Both were pre packaged and low quality. The weekday a la carte breakfast might have filled the stomach of a ten year old..especially the fruit portion. For $230 per night the breakfast better be stellar...it was not. Nevertheless, im not overly disappointed but $230 value is a bit too much...maybe $150-175 max

The staff are so kind and helpful! The food is absolutely amazing! The rooms are large and clean! The wildlife is entertaining: a group of howler monkeys swung from tree to tree and put on quite a show! We would stay here again!

Beautiful calm beach. Jungle garden property. Big rooms with garden patio. Nice pool area recommend having car to see area. Close to Hermosa and Coco beach also 1 hour drive to Rincon Area and 20 minute drive to airport. Cons-lounge/bar area could be set up to be more inviting. Could include bar seating, lively music, drink specials. Would also recommend having paddle boards for the calm water.

Such a lovely place. Low season and we had it almost all to ourselves. All the staff so friendly and attentive - Andrea, Sergio, Daniela - we felt like we were family - they greeted us by name, knew what wanted to drink with breakfast (which is included!), were ready to take care of whatever we needed. Food good - although a little pricey, but that is what you expect at a nice resort. There are a couple of places you can walk to (did for one lunch), but mainly just ate at their nice outdoor restaurant (has an air-conditioned section if you like, but we found al fresco rather enjoyable). Paddleboards and kayaks for a modest fee (we did the latter). Decent beach you can walk for a couple miles on, without much in the way of waves so easy to swim. And nice and warm water (late Sept). Howler monkeys, iguanas and birds galore all right there. And beautiful gardens. If you want to do a tour, while you are there, go with Freddy - he is amazing, particularly if you like wildlife. Did his rainforest and volcano tour - amazing and learned so much. His assistant Meme will get you set up. Pura Vida!

From the minute we walked into the hotel, we were treated like queens and kings. The entire staff was attentive, kind and friendly at all times. We had a dilemma with our rental car company and the staff at Papagayo Golden Palms helped us by shuttling us to our tours. The entire staff, Mauricio, Natalie, JeJey, Andrea, Sergio and a few more were great! I cannot recommend this hotel enough!!! The premises were beautiful, quiet, serene and very clean. Treat yourself to the wonderful hotel!

I recently stayed at Papagayo Golden Palms and had a wonderful experience. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, always making sure we had everything we needed. The property is beautifully maintained, with lush gardens and a very peaceful atmosphere — you can tell they take great pride in keeping it in top condition. The food was also a highlight, with fresh, delicious options that added to the whole experience. If you’re looking for a relaxing getaway with great service, beautiful surroundings, and good food, I highly recommend staying here!

Wonderful staff

The place is dated but location is interesting. The staff were wonderful. The beach is dark sand but nice. Water very warm and calm in bay. The rooms need updating but were fine.
