Everything was good no complaints. Portland isn’t exactly a safe area to stay and this place was nice and felt safe and they had good security as well. Would definitely stay here again if I’m in Portland again.

I want to love this hotel. I have been going here for years, but since they have changed hands, they are slowly but surely doing away with all the amenities (pool, shuttle, breakfast.) And: when I went to check in, the girl at the front desk was already helping someone else. She did not acknowledge me with a hello. And when it was my turn, she STILL said nothing. Then: there were dirty towels/linens on the floor in the halls when we got there. And doors just propped open up and down the hall. It was creepy and weird. My guests were uncomfortable with the “no weapons” sign on the front door. There were so many small things they could do to make a stay at this grand old hotel seem great. But instead, you walk in and the door mat is disintegrating under your feet and the overall service falls flat.

I come down to Portland to visit family or spend time along the Columbia or seeing any of the other wonderful sites the area has to offer, and there’s one hotel by the river I stay at, but this time I had a last-minute need to stay somewhere else, and I picked the Sojourn. It was wonderful! The staff were great, the property itself is big and spacious, and very near the airport, and the room was the largest and of any I’ve ever stayed in for many years! And it was comfortable and beautifully set up! I’m a convert! This will be where I stay every time I come back!

I do not understand how this hotel is rated "8.0 very good", surely those reviews are not for the same "Sojourn Suites" that I stayed at. 1st room I was given, I arrive at the room and the door is partially open. As I cautiously approach and start to push the door open I realize a maintenance person is laying on the floor working under the sink that is just inside the door. So I waited outside for about 5 minutes, when I realize he/she is not going to be done anytime soon I go back to the front desk. Then I'm told to wait as they had no other available rooms yet (to be fair this was about 30 minutes before their check-in time). So I wait, of course they don't bother to tell me when another room is available so I have to stand in line again. So now I'm given another room, I'm in the room for about 3 minutes when suddenly someone attempts to open the door. The only thing that stopped them from opening it was because I had engaged the safety bolt. I go and open the door, fully expecting to see another guest trying to enter to find out that it was housekeeping checking to make sure there were towels in the room - they tried to enter the room without knocking first! Next, there were two TV's in the room and neither of them worked. One of the remotes didn't have any batteries in it, but even using the buttons on the TV it would not turn on. This hotel is very dated, they need to bulldoze it and build a modern hotel that doesn't look like it's still living in the 70's.

The website showed that the property had a swimming pool, hot tub, and sauna. We had grandkids that were anticipating using those items. There were none of those items. This is false advertising and should be taken down. The property is rundown.

Very accommodating

Service at check in was friendly and accommodating. We have made this our go to place to stay when having baseball tournaments in the Portland area. The location is very convenient whether we play in Portland or Vancouver.

I stayed here as a solo traveler and for 1 night. Overall, it was a good experience. The check in and out process was easy and quick. This is a well-lit property located in a quiet and safe area of town. Staff were friendly, helpful, and professional. The room was exactly as pictured, except it did show signs of wear and tear in terms of furniture and the carpet. The room was clean, neat and everything was in working order. It was a king suite, extremely large and comfortable. Just the freezer was a little dirty. Something spilled in there and it wasn’t cleaned out. Other than that, I have no complaints. The bed was comfortable and I slept well. I would definitely stay here again.
