The facilities themselves are good. An older resort but well maintained. The staff is very helpful and know the area well. There are three pools and a great beach area within a mile of the boardwalk (walking distance). The bars are fine but don't open until 10AM and they don't use the swim-up bar because no drinks in the pool allowed. If this was the end of the review it would be perfect. However, the biggest let down was the food! The single main restaurant is cafeteria/buffet all you can eat style and is not very high quality and very unappealing. It was often lukewarm at best and similar to what I could eat in the US. Everyone not eating at the specialty restaurants must eat here so it gets very crowded. There is also not food available at all times. The specialty restaurants are better but you only get one voucher for every two nights and reservations must be placed far in advance. The food is much better there with a limited menu that you choose options for app, soup/salad, entree, and dessert. The snack bar by the main pool serves hot dogs, hamburgers, and pizza primarily but mass produced and not good quality as well as being cold most of the time. Overall, loved the stay in Puerto Vallarta and if Canto del Sol could upgrade the food quality and variety this would be a much higher rating.

I booked two rooms. One room, the sliding balconies door would not slide and the safe did not work. We requested our room be cleaned (we were out of toilet paper and towels), they did not clean it. We did have to track someome down to eventually get a roll of toilet paper. The food was not good. Buffet was the same thing every day. Staff were fantastic though.

Second time staying at the resort and I was very happy with the value for dollar. We were there late November. The staff was wonderful and very friendly! There was always entertainment. The main buffet could get quite the line and there was a lot of repeat stuff but thats to be expected for the price point. The only negative would be 1 elevator wasnt working which wasnt a huge deal for us but was definitely an issue for those with strollers, wheel chairs or any mobility issues. Also the shower didnt seem to have hot water in the early hours. No issues later on but not sure if its because the tanks took time to heat or something else. Also the last few days of our stay we saw the splash park slide was dismantled, portions were blocked off when arriving but they ended upbreaking down the whole thing. Again didnt affect us but i imagine it still shows on the current photos. Overall I was pleased with the resort and would happily stay again

I stayed there for 5 days with my family and we had a good experience. Property is little old and doesn't feel like it is 5 start property but overall stay, location, staff were excellent. Only one thing that we concerned that Washroom in the room were too small. Hotel staff were very much trained and excellent in the hospitality. It is a value for money.

alll staff were very pleasant to deal with. some went out of their way to help. area very safe, walked around the main street at odd hours with no problem. room was spacious for family of 6,very clean with patio. but it needs some upgrades as it looks little rundown. line up for food were long and sometimes run out of food. no urgency from the front desk, asked shower to be repaired and water restocked, had to call couple of times. also at beach small vendors constantly asking to buy thier stuff

The room was not great at all. Lumpy pillows, flush got stuck every time we flushed. All faucets were so worn out, water pressure was not good at all. Room service ladies did a good job cleaning whatever they could. Asked for soap and they never brought any, had to walk to the front desk for anything we needed. Food: the buffet is just terrible. the food is not edible. Long long lines to eat. And the specialty restaurants are a joke. They don't get you a spot to eat there unless u eat at odd times, yet the restaurants always seem empty. When asked they said, we can only accomodate so many at a time. We ate at the Oriental restaurant 3 days into our stay and the sushi was nice, the entrees were like 6 bites of food. and when we wanted to get more food, the servers were not interested in bringing out more food. Literally took us 30 minutes to get someone's attention - asked 3 different servers. Still left tops because, that the polite thing to do. The drinks are like every resort, watered down. The shows and activities are all in Spanish, barely any English spoken. The guests were primarily Spanish speaking so that probably why but honestly, it was hard to enjoy when you don't understand much other than hand gestures. Worst is the front desk, rude staff - unaccommodating and pretend to not understand English. They were gesturing to each other and speaking in Spanish which my son understood a bit. Avoid this place and spend a bit more for quality,

The hotel is outdated and poorly maintained. General aspect is vintage at best while service, food and drinks are average at best. Rooms are smelly and moldy. The curtains were stained and greasy, not even all bulb lights were working and we don’t even have a fridge bar in the room. The pillows smell bitterly. Staff is rude with few exceptions. Being neutral and honest, you just don’t get the value you paid for.

The housekeepers done great job, some bartenders was not friendly. The bell guy Raul was great with helping with room service etc. The snack bar served bite size pizza that was cold, location of hotel is good though.
