Pros: You can walk to the beach, its right on the backside of the hotel. Place is beautiful and quiet. Swimming pool was good. They have a small kitchen. The staff let us do early checkin, they were kind. Room looks good. Cons: Bathroom needs repair, the water flow was pretty bad. Using washroom was a nightmare. Shower had no water flow. There were no hooks in the washroom to hand towels and clothes. Towels did not feel that clean or sanitised. Sink tap was also not working properly. Toilet seat also felt unhygienic.

Close to Manuel Antonio National Park and it’s on the beach. Plenty of parking. Staff needs training in customer service skills. Beatriz at the breakfast/lunch cafe was very nice, helpful and friendly. Rooms are very small. AC was great.

Very disappointing

The room was dark and unappealing the hotel has seen much better days It is on the beach and close to the national park but I wouldn’t stay here again The aircon worked well though and it was quiet

Great property for the value. Nothing fancy but location is great as it has direct beach access which is hard to find in Manuel Antonio. Small kitchen is also a plus.

Even though I gave the facility an average score. The location was incredible. It is right where the jungle and beach come together. We saw more monkey's and sloths at our hotel then we saw in the national park. The beach it is located on is just a natural beauty. We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It could use some updating but should not prevent someone from staying there.

Basic hotel but bed was comfy and shower hot. Small kitchen area in room for snacks. Easy walk to Manuel Antonio - maybe 1km Best thing is beach access. A nice pool on the property and walk out the gate to the beach which is very clean and nice. Small restaurant for breakfast and lunch. One morning there were monkeys and one even took my pancake when I was done eating! Staff was very accommodating and helped me arrange cruise Perfect base for Manuel Antonio

I wanted to like this much more than we did. Pros: Staff was the best we experienced during all of our travels. They really go out of their way to help. Location next to beach. Clothes drying line in shower. Cons: Beds extremely uncomfortable. Low water pressure. Shower doesn't get very hot. We typically don't look for many amenities when we travel. Our goal is to visit the location and we view our lodging as just a bed and a bathroom to crash after a full day outdoors. None of us could get a good night sleep in these beds. We wanted to check out a day early but we had already paid.

Was a great location on the beach. So easy access. Rooms are 1-2 star but everything worked. Prices very high around new years. Great reception. But very poor security as often the hotel was wide open to the street at night and no one at the reception.

Great hotel on the beach. We couldn’t see it from our room but the pool was right outside. Location was excellent and the cafe next door made a great breakfast. The room was large with a kitchenette.

Hotel Verde Mar is a small independently owned beach front hotel. It’s cute quaint and a bit rustic. Bed sheets are stiff but clean. The tile is old but cared for. We had a large group requiring 3 rooms. One day an air conditioning unit stopped working and the staff quickly moved us to a different room. The kitchenette had 4 dinner plates, little plates, cups, forks, spoons, butter knives, one sharp knife and a little cutting board. In addition there was dish soap, a hand towel, toaster, microwave, coffee maker and mini fridge. All this was essential for a family trying to avoid eating at restaurants each meal. Local super markets were easy to find and walkable. Parking was not an issue and front desk staff was willing to help if it was. The little adjacent cafe was reasonably priced with a mixture of Costa Rican and American food. Monkeys and lizards loiter about the place. The proximity to the beach was priceless and away from the main strip. Our 7 kids used the beach and pool daily. They had great fun exploring the beaches with shells and live sand dollars, coves full of crabs, and jungle wildlife. I would definitely recommend this place for families that are not looking to spend a ton of money/couples who are OK with a little more rustic stay with everything you need for a great experience. If you want a room like the Hilton, look elsewhere.
