Subpar

Family vacation. We had stayed at a stupendous resort prior to this so that augmented our mediocre at best experience here. For the prices and ā€œresortā€ fees, having enough lounge chairs and umbrellas at the pool is a must. Also, other amenities (kayaks, water bottles in the rooms, etc.) should be included as they are in other resorts. Not sure when it was updated but it already looks rough, room smelled humid and a tad moldy. Overall, would not return.

There aren't enough good things I can say about this place. Having traveled to Puerto Rico several times before, The Royal Sonesta takes the cake! The staff and kind and accommodating, and the best part was there was no hidden fees or charges when I checked out, like I have experienced many times before at other properties. The complimentary breakfast that was offered for staying in a club room is wonderful. They also provided daily complimentary happy hour drinks and appetizers. The beach and pool are just beautiful. I will definitely be staying there again and will only be staying there!

We had a wonderful time and everyone was so friendly and accommodating! Every meal was delicious! Clean beautiful beach access and it was a great location! Cvs was right around the corner and a casino a block away! We will be back!

We loved our stay in this hotel. Both the beach and the pool area is amazing. There is something for everyone. Spent time at the beach most of the time. Staff was very helpful and we like that there was food and drink service to the beach. Also bar at the pool was amazing. Room was clean and hotel staff was nice and helpful. Only thing is the coffee machine in the rooms probably need an upgrade. It was a Nespresso look alike some cheaper version. It was very clunky and capsules would keep dropping into the used bucket as soon as you put the capsule in. Otherwise no complaints. Water temperature was good but the ocean was too windy and had some passing showers. For those looking for tropical beach calm waters this is not it.

Not Worth the Price ā€“ Disappointing Experience Our stay at the Royal Sonesta was underwhelming and did not justify the high cost. We booked an ocean-view balcony room, which offered a lovely direct view of the beach. However, the balcony itself was disappointingly smallā€”too cramped to accommodate seating, making it essentially unusable. Additionally, while the ocean view was lovely, the sight of neglected, dirty rooftops below was an eyesore. The hotel appeared understaffed. There was no beachside service, and poolside service was scarce, making it difficult to order food or drinks. The beachside bar was closed and under construction so there was constant noise. To make matters worse, a large conference was taking place during our stay, and the attendees dominated the hotel. Their scavenger hunt or group activity was disruptive making it hard for guests looking to relax by the pool or beach. Dining at the on-site Ruthā€™s Chris Steakhouse was another disappointment. My chopped salad tasted more like coleslaw, and I had to send it back. Additionally, when we requested tap water, we were later surprised to find a $9 charge on our bill. Overall, while the location and beach views were nice, the lack of service, disruptive atmosphere, and disappointing dining experience made this stay not worth the premium price. We would not choose to stay here again.

The pool is awesome with plenty of lounge chairs and access to one of the most beautiful beaches I have seen with just pure sand versus rocks and garbage mixed in. It is an expensive place to stay, no doubt about it. You can save money elsewhere, but it was great. (Drinks at the pool run $15 for just a regular sized drink)

This property is ok for the price point. Itā€™s not a 5 star by any means, but for $450 per night (which is roughly what we paid) it was decent. Easy uber to Old San Juan and the airport. The beach is just ok. Having a Ruth Chris on sight was great. The food there was delicious. The area is safe for two or more females to walk. Itā€™s not a luxurious area at all, but if you want convenience to Old San Juan and the airport, itā€™s a good choice. If you want a tropical beach vibe, choose another area on the island. We did prefer this hotel over the Fairmont next door. If I did it over again, Iā€™d stay here for two nights to explore old San Juan and then the rest of the time else where in Puerto Rico.
