This is a unique historical property right on the waterfront . The exterior grounds are not much to look at but the interior is delightful. Our room was large with all the amenities . Our friend’s room had an air conditioning issue. The hotel immediately moved them to a nearby room which was much appreciated . A lovely place to stay and an easy walk to the entertainment on George St

The rooms need better noise controls, especially from the roof. Its an old building, but can improve more by more upkeeping. Overall, not bad but could improve!

The number one thing we liked about the hotel was the staff - very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great. The location is excellent - near the harbour, restaurants and shopping. The hotel is old and our room was quite dark with no ceiling light, only lamps. Be careful if you get up in the night, as wood poles are located in some areas of the rooms. Unfortunately, those above us were very noisy well into the early hours. We spent a total of 8 nights there and would do so again because of the positive points.

Lovely historical hotel

It’s a lovely hotel with an abundance of history. Room was clean and spacious , ceiling was a little low but when you know the history of the building it’s understandable. Our only complaint is the continental breakfast. Options were extremely limited for people with dietary restrictions which I voiced to hotel staff. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay and would stay there again

You cannot beat this hotel for its location in downtown right on the harbour and so close to the majority of food, pubs, shopping, etc. The restoration of this grand old property to bring it up to a relatively modern facility but keeping the century old post and beam construction is very impressive. The onsite parking is a very useful feature as well. However, there were some quite disappointing aspects to our stay. We were in a room very close to the elevator in one of the wings. The elevator was excessively loud, to the point where it is hard to believe it is operating properly. It was wasn't just making noise when operating, it made big random clunks while just sitting idle. The staff was not overly attentive to the needs of operating the complimentary breakfast area. The fridge in the lounge was not operating correctly and staff did nothing about that when notified of it. It probably was at 12C, far too warm to be storing dairy products. Overall, staff just not paying attention to the little details required in such an operation. The parking area was also not very clean, lots of bits of garbage, cigarette butts, etc.

Great 5 day stay in St. John's

Great hotel in the middle of the Water Street George Street entertainment area. Nice large rooms and comfortable lobby with all day coffee and tea. We would return again.

There is an open beam ceiling and exposed stone wall in the room. Lots of space as well. The hotel is well located, close to restaurants, bars, and attractions. Our only issue was the breakfast; we were there for four nights and the continenetsl breakfast was the same each day which got s bit tiresome. Otherwise it was a great place to stay!
