Enjoy this getaway home on Spider Lake with 60 feet of private beach; an absolutely beautiful setting from sunrise to sunset. It`s the perfect place to stay in any season, only 11.5 miles from downtown Traverse City, and well-protected from claustrophobic downtown traffic.
The home is only a short hop from all the luxuries of Traverse City, including extravagant wineries, breathtaking sights, incredible restaurants, and endless outdoor attractions including Turtle Creek Casino. The neighborhood is isolated from public transportation, but Uber & Lyft and other options are usually available if you need transportation aside from your own vehicles.
There`s year-round availability for rental in any season of the year. Bask in the summer sun on the lake and immerse yourself in the beauty of lakeside nature among the loons, swans, ducks, cranes, and deer. Enjoy the golden Michigan woods in the glow of autumn, enjoying the beautiful northern Michigan color change. Come back to your cozy indoor fireplace for hot cocoa after a day on the ski slopes, ice-fishing, or snowmobile trails enjoying the beauty of Michigan winters.
Just a few meters off your beach is a nice sized island/sandbar easily accessible by kayaks or paddle boat which we include in the rental at no extra cost. Or by pontoon boat, if included in the rental (more on that later). Bring supplies to spend the day swimming, take the kayaks out, have a campfire under the stars, hang a hammock for a nap, or play volleyball out on the sandbar. Fish off the dock or the kayaks/paddle boat, or pontoon boat, on the lake without having to transport equipment anywhere for launch.

The house has multiple decks and patios to enjoy, one with a large outdoor grill, a beautiful courtyard, an indoor fireplace, and 2 outdoor fire pits. Don’t miss the beach-side fire pit near the dock for a cozy night of stargazing beside the lake. The interior is fully furnished with a washer, dryer, dishwasher, fridge, and oven, all newer appliances. We provide all kitchen utensils, and the cupboards are stocked with spices and cooking sprays. There`s also central air for those hot summer nights, and a powerful furnace for cold winter nights.
The coffee maker is a Keurig that has a single cup option and a full pot option. We stock ground coffee for our guests but feel free to bring your own and you will need to bring your own K-cups.
Sleep comfortably in one of four queen bedrooms, including a luxurious master bedroom and a fun room with bunk beds -- complete with two and a half bathrooms, and plenty of closet and drawer space. There are also two pull out couches with a queen mattress in the living room.
We have lots of board games for all ages to enjoy. Also, we have city maps of Traverse City and menus from local restaurants so you can make dinner plans from the lake-house.
Summer Activities:
These are endless in Traverse City. Enjoy boating, swimming, hiking, biking, wine tasting, breweries, distilleries, casinos, top notch restaurants, many farm to table, shopping, live music, beaches, paddle boating, kayaking, boat cruises, horse back riding, scenic drives, festivals, food & wine events, jet skiing, golf, mini-golf, beautiful architecture, tours, escape rooms, climbing, fitness, gyms, and much more.
Fall Activities:
We recommend driving around Old Mission Peninsula, Interlochen area, Benzie County, The Leelanau Peninsula, and Elk Lake/Torch Lake areas. Typically, peak color season in these areas is typically mid-October, but seasonal temperatures may impact the exact timing (above average temps will delay peak color; and below average temps will cause colors to peak earlier). Additionally, areas near the lakeshore are typically cooler, therefore colors tend to peak first/earlier in these areas compared to the locations further from the coast. Also, there are many local farms with pumpkin patches, cideries, and plenty of family fun activities. Also, Traverse City is known as wine country! Fall wine tours are very beautiful in Traverse City.
Winter Activities:
Our Lakehouse is in a centralized location to many ski/snowboard resorts: Hickory hills (13.8 miles), Mt Holiday (6.7 miles), Crystal Mountain (34.4 miles), Caberfae (46 miles), Boyne Mountain (59.6 miles).
For snow tubing, Mt. Holiday (6.7miles), Timberlee Hills (19.5 miles)
Also, close to many locations for cross country skiing, fat tire biking, and snow shoeing.
*Other things to note*
- We have a max of 10 occupants, including adults and children, We have a max of 5 cars that are allowed, 2 must be in the garage, the other 3 can park in the driveway. We cannot have anyone park on the road or the neighbors yard. If you have more cars, please contact me so we can make extra accommodations for them. This is family setting lake cottage so we don`t allow parties and have a quiet time after 10pm to meet township and short-term rental guidelines.
- The boat is a pontoon boat, not a speed boat, it is meant for cruising and relaxing in. We do not allow tubing behind the boat either.
- The lake is a typical Michigan lake, the shore is not sandy but has vegetation, it`s beautiful, but we don`t recommend swimming at the shore, but rather at the island which is a very short boat ride, kayak, or paddle boat ride away. The island has plenty of space and a huge sandbar, typically with one or two volleyball nets set up. You can see the island right out the back window of the house, see pictures for examples.
- There is no security deposit, but guests are responsible for all damage on the property and will be charged accordingly if there is damage. By booking this property, you agree to this term.
When you rent the lake house, the whole property is yours. Here is a break down of the 3 floors:
- Floor 1 - Garage Level - There is a garage where you can park 2 cars, and keep your fishing supplies or other outdoor gear you may bring. There is also another fridge there you can use for extra supplies/ice, etc. Attached to the garage is one of the guest bedrooms with a bunk bed with 2 twin mattresses, and 1 queen bed. The garage opens into a mudroom which leads upstairs or outside to the one of the out-door areas that over looks the lake with a seating area.
- Floor 2 - the Main Level - The main floor has a fully stocked kitchen, a living room with a high def smart TV (so you can sign into your apps, such as Netflix, Prime, etc), basic cable, a dining room, a master bedroom with full bath with a bidet/heated seat), and the back porch that leads into the backyard. This floor also has a half bath with a washer and dryer. Also, on this floor, in the living room, we have 2 comfortable pull-out couches that can sleep 2 people each.
- Floor 3 - the Top Floor Level - The top floor also has two bedrooms, a skylight, and a full bathroom with a tub.
Note: It requires stairs to get up to the 2nd floor of the house and to the 3rd floor.
Back yard - The back yard has three levels. The upper level has a gazebo, a patio, outdoor dining table, chairs, and a firepit. The mid level has a seating area that overlooks the lake, perfect for morning coffee, meals or card games. The lower level is on the lake with a dock, a large firepit with outdoor furniture provided, and boating equipment. This is also where the two kayaks, paddleboat, and pontoon boat (if part of the rental), are located. Use of all of these depends on seasonality and weather.
This house is located in a private little neighborhood in the Forest Lakes area. The houses on the street are spread out enough that you`re never disturbed (but it`s not quite a cabin-in-the-woods scenario). You`ll have plenty of privacy and isolation on the scenic lake, and most of your contact with the neighbors will be waves from the passing boats.
You can contact me anytime during your stay via text or call. I`m always here to help you out if there`s anything you need.
