The room was decent, however we spent a lot of time waiting on the elevator both to the rooms and to the parking garage. The parking garage is in rough shape however it does appear that they are in the process of repairing it.

Hotel was ok overall. Small rooms but nice location downtown. Staff not super friendly or helpful but not bad. We did have to ask after 2 days to have our room cleaned finally. The manager did personally apologize for this which was thoughtful. We got a tix on our car in their garage as we were leaving. Some issue with them not putting down the full 3 nights we were staying. Front desk said they would take care of it. Hope so! It was $100ca.

Very disappointed in the quality of the “newly renovated” room we were in. I booked a king suite and was given a double queen instead with a $170 a night price difference. The room was poorly laid out, the ac unit had no effect on the room temperature. There was no convenient desk space to work from. The bathroom was small and the grout was peeling in the shower. The elevator took 10-20 minutes depending on the time of day to get from floor 11 to the lobby. They neighbourhood had a large homeless population and I didn’t feel safe walking around at night or being in the elevator or hallways alone

We stayed at this hotel for a recent vacation, and while the location is great, the overall experience left a lot to be desired. Check-in was confusing—we arrived during the posted window, but our room wasn’t ready, and staff couldn’t provide a clear timeline. That said, the front desk staff were friendly, professional, and genuinely tried to help despite not having solid answers. Their attitude was a bright spot in an otherwise frustrating process. Once in the room, we were immediately concerned with cleanliness. The sheets had blood stains, the shower was grimy, and worse, we found an unused condom between the desk and mini fridge. The carpet was dirty with visible stains, and when we requested new bedding, the replacement duvet also had old blood marks. At that point, we stopped trusting the room’s hygiene. The space itself was dated and cramped. The furniture was worn, the bathroom was very small, and there was no table or surface suitable for more than one person to eat at, making it hard to settle in comfortably. In short, while the front desk staff were great and the location is convenient, the cleanliness and room quality were unacceptable.

Ask for a room with a view, not construction!

We booked an upgraded corner room. Unfortunately it was never disclosed that there was a building being built there. We had to keep our drapes closed to avoid the workmen on the scaffold immediately next to us. Room was always dark! When we mentioned this to the front desk the response was, "So, we aren't having construction in the hotel"!!! The location of the Sandman was convenient for our stay and we enjoyed a draft at the big screened sportsbar. But not enough to return to a dark dreary room!
Quite a view! Workers often on scaffolding--we could shake hands they were so close!

Train to the airport is 5 minutes walk; location is very close to yaletown Staff were super nice, cleaning lady was very nice and kind as well as the receptionist Only think I think can do better is their coffee that they wont serve after 9 am at the lobby

The electricity was spotty. The lights went out for no reason. I had to argue to get a different room. The new room had a bathroom sink that tiny, less than 12 inches. It was supposedly remodeled.

Hotel location was fine. The overall hotel was a bit on the tired side. The carpet in the hallways was pretty worn out. The room had an old style air conditioner which struggled to cool the room (it was summer). It kept the temperature tolerable but not cold. There were only two elevators which were slow. There was sometimes a queue just to get into an elevator.

The website states the pool is open til 11. A staff member came upstairs to tell me the pool was closed as the staff had to clean the area. I relayed that is states til 11 on the website, in addition to the entrance door stating cleaning is at 11. The staff member was less than friendly when I relayed this info. Not impressed.
