When we arrived at the Hotel, were told by the staff that there was no water at the hotel. We could stay if we wanted to but we would have to use showers in the parking lot and we could not drink the water. We left. Maybe next time. Tom

The room was clean and comfortable, however, the walls are really thin. We were on the bottom floor and heard kids jumping and running around on the floor above us until midnight. I could hear the guy in the bathroom in the room next to us. Not just mumbling, I could hear everything he was saying clearly. Check out is at noon. I had my “privacy please” sign on the door and at 10am housekeeping persistently knocked on my door until I answered and asked if I’m checking out today. Two hours prior to checkout. I called the front desk to confirm the checkout time and explained what happened and all he said was that maybe it was a new hire. No apology or anything.

I have stayed at this beautiful Marriott in the past, and this time around I can only comment on the rooms. We did not avail ourselves of pool or restaurant, or any of the other activities available at the hotel this time. It was a quick stay, so I can say that at check in everything went smoothly. The staff we encountered throughout our stay, though few people, were all very courteous and eager to help. The room we stayed in was very clean, quiet, and had all the comforts one could expect from a well appointed guest room. We asked for extra pillows which were promptly delivered within a few minutes. We enjoy this location when in Ventura for the proximity to a beautiful beach, walking distance to Seaward Village with all the restaurants and shops available there, and short drive to Ventura Harbor as well as to Downtown Ventura and Main Street activities. When it’s a quick weekend away, this is a superb place to stay!

A very nice hotel with unique touches, including a lovely courtyard garden, a large lobby/bar area with plenty of seating, and a pleasant all-purpose restaurant for breakfast, as well as casual evening dining. Staffing and service was outstanding, both at reception and in the dining/bar areas. Easy beach access as well.

My recent experience with Hugo at the front desk was one of the worst I’ve had at any Marriott property. He should be immediately coached — and frankly, considered for demotion if this level of service is typical. Upon arrival, Hugo remained on the phone for approximately 10–15 minutes while I stood directly in front of him, waiting to check in. He did not acknowledge me, make eye contact, or offer even a basic “I’ll be right with you.” His priority appeared to be the personal conversation he was having — which, notably, was conducted in a very friendly and enthusiastic tone. When he finally processed my check-in, his demeanor completely changed. He was dismissive, provided no information about where my room was located (which turned out to be on the complete opposite side of the property), and showed zero effort to make the check-in smooth or welcoming. He handed me the key cards with visible sarcasm and no professionalism whatsoever. This behavior reflects poorly on the entire property and completely undermines the Marriott brand standard of hospitality. Guests should never feel ignored, disrespected, or inconvenienced at check-in — the most basic interaction that sets the tone for the stay. I strongly urge management to formally coach or reassign Hugo. His attitude and lack of attention to guests are unacceptable and completely inconsistent with Marriott service expectations.
