Take a kayak tour to Donut Island or take a trip or hike to Wentworth Falls. There are plenty of shops and cafes in the town or take a drive out to Opoutere Beach and check out the Coastal Bird Reserve, or grab your paddleboard and head to the estuary where the waters are a bit calmer. Let’s not forget that Whangamata is home to the famous Beach Hop held every March for a week where vintage cars, caravans and motorbikes from all around NZ are showcased. Vintage markets are operating and it’s a family-friendly party atmosphere not to be missed!
