Extremely Disappointing Experience - Would Never Recommend! I am very disappointed with my recent stay at the Victoria Inn Hotel in Winnipeg. The front desk staff showed a surprising level of ignorance and zero hospitality from the moment we arrived. I had called two weeks in advance to request an early check-in, and the hotel had confirmed it. However, on arrival, I was abruptly told “no,” with no attempt to help or accommodate us. This left me, my elderly parents, my wife, and our 5-month-old baby stranded in the cold and told to “come back in 5 hours.” There was no effort to offer a waiting area, amenities, or even basic guidance on where we could rest after a long flight. We had to leave the property and find somewhere else to recover before returning. When we finally checked in, the front desk simply handed the keys and assumed we knew where everything was. No directions, no assistance, we had to rely on the bellboy. Out of the two rooms we booked, one had a noticeable smell, and the microwave in the other did not work. Additionally, there were no complimentary water bottles provided, which is a basic courtesy in most hotels. What stood out most, ironically, was that the cleaning staff were far more helpful, welcoming, and professional than the front desk. Their genuine courtesy made it clear that they would be better suited to represent the hotel than the current front desk staff, whose fake smiles and dismissive attitude set a terrible tone for our stay.

Comfy beds but shower door track had black mold. The restaurant had subpar food and found multiple long hairs in our food. Breakfast was also not very good as the fruit was starting to go bad and the waitress kept forgetting things from our order. The pool was small and crowded but still fun for smaller kids. The entire pool had a very strong chlorine smell and eyes burned, especially in the hot tub.

Check in went smoothly, room was clean, the bathroom however needs a good cleaning, specially the shower, seems neglected and dirty. Also was very loud during “quiet time”, people were having a party across from us the first night and the second night there was a family reunion of some sort above us. Both kept waking me up throughout the night so I didn’t sleep well.

We stayed there years ago. It’s seen better days. The carpet in the hallway on second floor where we stayed was run down. Needs to be refreshed. The door to our room shut and locked, but didn’t look shut because I could see light inside the room between the door and the frame. Caulking in the shower was deteriorating in a few spots. Friendly staff and a good, convenient location, but probably our last stay.
