Adults only, so very pleasant for those seeking break from parenthood and empty nesters. Dining options are somewhat limited and reservations required. dress code casual. No buffet options for dinners… so one has to select a themed restaurant for dinners. Personnel are very friendly and service is above average… Pool area chairs get taken early in the am., but ample chairs on beach. This area is dealing with lots of Sargassum ( seaweed), which is cleared as best as possible daily..unfortunately . Not sure there is a better time of year, especially since June-October is Hurricane season here in the Gulf. We had great weather. The Wifi is excellent!

By far, the staff are the best part of this property. The entertainment staff is the best we have encountered at any all inclusive and they do a fantastic job and work very hard! We paid for the privileged upgrade and were disappointed with our experience at Bloved. We eventually gave up and stopped going there and did not utilize it as an option for meals, which is unfortunate. But overall, we had a great time and all of the other restaurants gave us great experiences!

Overall a great trip in a quiet and smallish hotel. We went with 2 other couples. We typically liked to eat the meals together and we did not run into issues for sitting together. If you go with more people seating could be an issue. Staff was very accommodating, great service all around. One negative for my self was the lack of buffet for dinner, you had to book one of the restaurants and it took 2hrs to eat a meal. Don't matter if it's 2 people or 6. It might not be a negative if you don't want to rush through your meal. Overall the food was great in the buffet and restaurants. One negative for my wife was the lack of a dedicated coffee shop. Yes any bar could make you a latte, but nothing dedicated. I liked the quiet part of this hotel. No crazy entertainment shows at night, just simple music or karaoke. If you're looking for shows, you'd have to go offsite. We we're there at end of April and there were no huge crowds. Didn't need to get up crazy early to reserve loungers by the pool or on the beach. They were still available after breakfast. Beach was great! No rocks and the sand was clean and soft. Workers were doing a good job of cleaning up the sea weed every day.

It seemed like if you weren’t 50+ and Caucasian looking that you were an after thought. Ordered items from restaurants and never received them. Food could’ve been a lot better for the price of your stay. On my visit, 5 out of the 6 restaurants had no availability for dinner. Having only one option for dinner at the restaurant that ignored you for 30 mins to just pour a glass of water really turned me off.

Second time here, great resort. Quiet, beautiful premises, amazing beach, pool is awesome. Food can definitely be improved. Even though we upgraded to privileged, the food options were still not great. I wouldn’t upgrade anymore, so for the price it’s worth it.

Fortunately no sargassum. Dining was more difficult to arrange than in past stays. We felt less appreciated as Americans though we tip generously and management was discouraging when problems arose. We paid for an upgrade but the resort did not monitor beach chairs reserved for upgraded guests. A nice Canadian was threatened by a guest that did not pay for the upgrade when he questioned the guest about sitting in the upgraded section. There also seemed to be a “disconnect” between the kitchens that were preparing food and the restaurants. This was our favorite Caribbean destination, but considering their price increasing along with the worst service after multiple trips there we will not likely go back.

The staff was the absolute best part of the experience at Royal Catalonia Tulum. They always went above and beyond to make our stay great. Fantastic beach, with convenient dining options and locations. Highly recommend for a quiet, more laid back feeling resort, with opportunities to party and have fun if you are up for it.
