We reveal the ultimate Aussie kids travel playlist

Nothing gets the holiday good vibes going than a stack of upbeat songs that the whole family can enjoy. Whether you need to pass the time on a looooong road trip or you want some fun tunes for lazing by the pool, our ultimate Aussie kids travel playlist has you covered!

Based on recommendations from the parents in the Wotif team (so you know they’re tried-and-tested 😉 these ditties will please parents and kids alike. Read on for the fave tracks from our team (and their kids!).

1. We Will Rock You – Queen
Picked by Bec, Senior Brand Manager – mum to Scarlett, 12, and Kai, 9

You know what’s not cool? The Wiggles and Baby Shark on repeat on a road trip. You know what is cool? When your kid also loves upbeat pop songs, just like you. My son’s favourite is Queen’s epic anthem, We Will Rock You – an oldie but a goodie. We love a car trip sing-a-long – inclusive of clapping and foot stomping – you know the drill!

2. Shotgun – George Ezra
Picked by Zack, Senior eCommerce Specialist – dad to Mavis, three, and Odelia, eight weeks

This is the most highly-requested song on our family road trips. It’s near impossible to not enjoy this sunny sing-a-long when sung/shouted by a three-and a-half-year-old who knows about 85% of the lyrics 😉

3. Let’s Dance – David Bowie
Picked by Kristen, Social Media Specialist – mum to Charlie, 10, and Darcy, two

Move over Baby Shark! The only songs allowed on repeat on our trips are ones we can ALL enjoy. And who can say no to a Bowie bop like Let’s Dance? Easy lyrics for little ones to sing along to and the meaningful message behind them make for a good conversation starter with big kids! 🙂

4. (Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty – KC and The Sunshine Band
Picked by Adrian, dad to Ruby, four, and Amelie, one

When the road to be travelled is a long one, there is one song that gets my girls jiving in their seats every time. This disco classic is a guaranteed pick me up with my four-year-old singing along and my one-year-old laughing and trying to copy her big sister. I have to admit, it’s a little contagious!

So, it’s time to book a great Aussie getaway and make the most of some special family time… and don’t forget to turn these jams up!

Heads up! Due to COVID-19, government restrictions are in constant review and travel guidelines may change. We strongly recommend that all travellers seek further information about destinations and attractions before scheduling trips or making bookings, take extra care and follow all rules.
