Sleepless night due to malfunctioning fireplace

The fireplace in our room did not work, and every day we asked them to fix while receiving promises that it will. Never happened during the 4 nights we were there. This was annoying as we paid extra to find a place with a fireplace. What's worse, is that the fireplace spontaneously turned on sometime during night which woke us up due to the intense heat (~2:30am during the 2nd night there). We couldn't turn off the fireplace and there was no one available to help. We couldn't sleep with the heat and the air conditioning turned on wasn't strong enough to help. Next day they had maintenance go in to find a way to turn it off. The management was unresponsive to requests to correct or compensate us for the uncomfortable stay.

Carmel Beach Hotel was perhaps one of the favorite places I've stayed!! The rooms were lovely, clean, and comfortable, and every staff member was an absolute joy to chat with. If you need a place to stay in Carmel, I don't think you'll find something better.

This quaint beauty is off the beaten downtown path, close to the beach and walkable to the sand. Everything about this resort makes us wish to return. The only confusing element is the promise of a downtown shuttle yet on the night we stayed, the day of the Car week exhibition, their shuttle was being serviced and was never available. Why this was the timing and no alternate arrangement was made is puzzling to be sure. The e-bikes are a wonderful feature but in need of service. Carmel is extremely hilly and riding into town was a challenge even with the e-bikes. The rooms are beautifully appointed, the grounds are lovely and well maintained. Staff responsive to our requests to light firepit and use bikes. We plan to return next summer.

Great Spot - not great ppl

Great spot, okay service, staff needs training. This was a splurge for us we were expecting a red carpet rollout - and the staff was accommodating but - my mom requested a bathtub room shortly after booking - it was confirmed the room we got included that. Day of we get there - neither room has it. We do a switch and swap and end up getting told rather firmly we'll be charged for a cleaning fee due to a room that was occupied needing to be cleaned up. Overall the feeling from the staff and managers on this was that we had mad a mistake not them. Which frankly felt bad. Otherwise it was great little spot - 1 block up and around the corner from the stairs on the beach. Not on the water but as close as you can get basically. They had ebikes which was a cool perk, although they did seem outdated. Still super fun! Didn't get a chance to try out the gym. Some pros were they were super chill about the service animal. And overall the place had good vibes. Just the mixup at the beginning left a sour taste the whole stay. They need to take customer service classes, including the manger herself... Wasn't Bad, Wasn't great..
