Guangzhou Holiday Packages

Thinking about taking your next holiday in Guangzhou? The port city formerly known as Canton has a history that stretches back more than 2,200 years, but it’s also got a thoroughly modern mindset, with massive skyscrapers, delicious food and enough attractions to keep drawing tourists year-round.

Things to Do in Guangzhou

Book your Guangzhou package and hit the road. Start off with a trip to Canton Tower, the highest structure in China and one of the tallest towers in the world. Hop on the elevator and ogle the views from the observation deck over 400 metres up. If heights aren’t exactly the way you want to spend your holidays to Guangzhou, keep your feet on the ground and cross the Pearl River to Shamian Island. Pull out your camera, because you’ll want some snaps of its quaint colonial architecture and numerous statues.

Hoping to escape from the urban hustle and bustle? Book one of Wotif’s Guangzhou car hire options and head off on some day trips outside the city centre. Pay homage to martial arts masters Bruce Lee and Yip Man by visiting their ancestral homes in Foshan, a smaller city in the Guangdong province. Take a deep breath of fresh air up at Dinghu Mountain and Lake, located about 80 km out of the city. Hike up the mountain, picnic in front of a waterfall and stop by one of the Buddhist shrines scattered throughout its forests.

Shopping, Dining & Nightlife

Guangzhou's street markets will satisfy anyone looking to lighten their savings account. Hit up Beijing Road, a pedestrian street that serves as the city's main commercial hub. You could wander around for days and not scrape the bottom of this district—from clothing to fun bits and bobs you can bring home to your mates. In search of more edible goods? Check out Qingping Market, where you’ll find every sort of fresh produce you can imagine. They also dabble in the sale of slightly more unusual goods, like herbs for tea and medicine, as well as marine life.

When you work up an appetite, try the local Cantonese cuisine, which is well-known in China for using flavourful ingredients and incorporating lesser-used animal parts like kidneys, hearts and brains, oh my! Not all that adventurous? Try a restaurant offering the city's famous dim sum in smaller bite-sized portions served on plates or in dumplings, and relax with a plate of food and some tea.

Burn off some of the calories you’ve sucked down by dancing the night away at Binjiang Road. This hub of Guangzhou nightlife runs along the Pearl River, and is loaded with locals and visitors alike. Knock back a few Tsingtao or Zhujiang beers—two of China's national brands—while schmoozing with your new friends. Finish your night with a cruise down the river, where you'll be dazzled by the skyscrapers' sparkling lights.
