The George Christchurch

50 Park Terrace, Christchurch - Map
"Great hotel - close to all facilities"
The receptionists' were great. Very welcoming and friendly. The room was comfortable and clean. We had a great view over the park. Unfortunately we found the bar attendant to be abrupt and to a point rude when we came down to the bar for a drink. Think the service here should have been better. We only stayed for one drink as there are plenty of other places to get better service. Other than that enjoyed our stay.

Very handy if you have a late arrival or early departure from Christchurch . Much work being done to upgrade what was an upmarket motel so some areas still slightly tired looking . New rooms functional rather than lux . Good free shuttle from and to airport you just have to phone and they'll come get you , only takes 4 /5 minutes .

    Pocket Guide: Christchurch

Christchurch is a world-class destination where the locals are brave, resilient, resourceful, and ready to put on the ritz for their guests. Sounds perfect, doesn't it? That's what you'll have when you stay in one of our Christchurch hotels. Don't let a few earthquakes scare you; despite the challenges that the city has faced since 2010, the people of Christchurch are rebuilding their city stronger and better than ever. Oh, and did we mention the gorgeous mountain and ocean views?

Perhaps the best of those views are seen from the Port Hills, which is popular with hikers, birdwatchers and mountain bikers. The views may be pretty, but many of Christchurch's gardens are equally gorgeous. In fact, Christchurch is known around the world as "The Garden City". The Christchurch Botanic Gardens, Hagley Park and Mona Vale Gardens are some of the most popular. If you're in Christchurch in February, make sure you attend the Festival of Flowers, or the Ellerslie International Flower Show in March. Flower festivals aren't the only popular annual events in Christchurch, though. There's also the International Busker Festival held in January, which features buskers from all over the world performing throughout the city.

A fairly new attraction in Christchurch is the Re:START Mall. This strip of shops is housed in brightly coloured shipping containers, and opened in 2011, as a bit of a protest against Mother Nature and as a symbol of the comeback-spirit of Christchurch locals. Head down to the mall to pick up some bargains and have a great cup of coffee. If you'd like to do a coffee crawl, make sure you visit Addington, which is famous for its cafes and live music scene. Throughout the city, quite a few "pop up" bars have made their mark since the quakes, where cocktails are often stirred and shaken inside a bus, while the bar-goers sit at funky tables and chairs, under the stars in an empty car park.

The Christchurch airport is only 15 minutes from the CBD. You can get around the city by bus, and there are also lots of cycling tracks. If you want to explore other parts of New Zealand, Christchurch is serviced by inter-regional trains. So, for a holiday in New Zealand's ‘Reimagined City’, check out these cheap flights and book your Christchurch accommodation today.
