We had high hopes for a cute hotel for our last night in Scotland. While it looks pretty if you don’t look too closely, it’s pretty run-down. Mattresses were saggy, covers stained and dirty, couldn’t find a full cup of coffee (manager “gave” us a partial cup that was all they had left because I guess the literally measure how much is needed vs. reserved breakfast guests?). It just feels like they’re treading water.

My family and I really enjoyed our stay at the Cumberland. The building was really neat, our room was large and comfortable, and it was extremely conveniently located to shopping and dining as well as public transit. The staff was friendly and welcoming. I would definitely stay here again.

The room itself was comfy. Bed was comfortable and bedding great! A few cobwebs and we noticed a couple of spiders as checking out. The bathroom was not great. The toilet roll holder was broken, so trying to get any toilet paper meant that it fell off. The towels were ripping as we used them, and the shower hose was covered in grime and grease. The water pressure in the shower was also very low, and quite hard to change the temperature of the shower. Overall, it is fine if you need a cheap one night stay, but it would be better to find something else.
