This is a beautiful property. The room was comfortable (super hot water in the shower!) and the breakfast was good (try the banana bread!). There are hiking trails on the property. We saw monkeys and a variety of birds. Warning: don't show your teeth to the monkeys and keep your distance. They can be quite aggressive. One other note: don't leave any food out in your room. We made that mistake and attracted tons of sugar ants.

We like this place as the room is clean and the view from the restaurant is fantastic! It's a very nice property with trails and waterfalls to walk around. It's quietly located but still convenient to go to the town area. We enjoyed the hammock garden a lot!

The grounds at Valle Escondido are beautiful. The food and service were excellent. Loved the farm to table concept and the eco-friendliness of hotel. Rooms are simple but clean and had everything we needed. Views and sunset from the restaurant/bar area were outstanding.

The property is set in a beautiful location. The restaurant on the property was good, but it took a while for the food to arrive. Our biggest complaint for the property was that when we went to the bed, we found our bed towards the foot to be wet, and had a musty smell. It seems there might have been some leak in the room. By the time we realized the bed was wet, the office had already closed, so we couldn’t get help. We wanted to love the property because it is set in a beautiful location and we loved the idea of farm to table meal. Also, the night walk was great. Unfortunately, the wet bed and musty smelling towels in the bathroom makes it unlikely that we would return.

In touch with nature

Location is superb for vistas and wonderful dining experiences. Lodging and grounds were comfortable. Birding from the balcony was also a unique experience. Coatimundi and agouti were seen about the property. Night walk and nearby Butterfly Gardens provided such interesting and surprising facts about the cloud forest.

Might need a car to get into town, but a great hotel. Food on site was amazing and affordable. Best pizza in Costa Rica. The hiking trails were a nice afternoon and morning adventure. Would recommend this place to anyone. Great view of the sunset (unfortunately some clouds blocked the full view during our stay).

This property is magnificent. The staff is very friendly, especially Elian. We walk the trails on the facility and saw the waterfall and the other amazing views. My children enjoyed it as did we we totally recommend this hidden gem.

Valle Escondido is a beautiful eco friendly hotel with delicious farm to table food. Property is beautiful with hiking trails to views of waterfalls. Great place for families and nature lovers alike. We took a night tour and saw amazing things with our lost knowledgeable guide! Had a great time!

Friendly staff, great views, good food.

Lovely place to stay with great views and trails to walk away from the accommodation area. Lots of birds and butterflies to see. Good breakfast - especially the yogurt and home made granola. Evening meals also good- with added bonus of local beer on tap. Staff friendly and helpful.
