I checked in and first they did not have my reservation. I was informed that the elevators were manually operated due to a flood two weeks earlier. They told me I had to call the front desk to get an elevator down. I said, “No problem.” I tried to call for the elevator on my room phone, it did not connect. I tried to call the front desk from my cell phone and I received the message that the entire phone system was down. I was left on the 29TH FLOOR with no way to call the elevator. At this point, I felt it was unsafe to remain in a hotel that is many many stories without reliable and safe transportation down. I walked down to the first floor, checked out after only being there a few hours, got my things and left. While I was leaving, there was mass confusion because only one elevator was even operating. I was later informed by the hotel guest services that I was not entitled a refund because I agreed to the elevator situation. I agreed to the situation that I could call someone for an elevator. I did not agree to be virtually trapped on the floor because the phones were not operational to call an elevator. If I had been an elderly or disabled person, I would have been virtually stuck on the 29th floor until someone got off that floor. This experience has not only soured me on booking this hotel, but using Expedia at all. I understand I booked a “non refundable” reservation, but I also booked a room with the expectation of having safe and reliable transport.

Upon arrival we were informed that the elevators were broken - the 1 elevator to the lobby would take you 30 minutes to reach the lobby. No prior notice of this problem was given until I walked in to check-in. Would have appreciated a heads up to find other accommodations. Manager was helpful tho and very polite and allowed us to cancel our reservations without penalties to find another hotel in the city. Problem was due to a water break I’m told.

The most terrible stay in NYC ever.

The worst experience while traveling ever. The hotel had no functioning elevators. I was on the 21st floor. The phones were not working, and I had no hot water for showering. It was by far the most ridiculous stay I've had in a hotel ever. The staff did not do much to offer any sort of a comfort, I had to carry my own luggage up and down 21 floors, there was very little of anything. They should not be allowed to operate like that. For $300+/night I had absolutely no comfort during my stay. It was terrible. I have no words.

Previous reviewers have mentioned the recent elevator problems- it was annoying, we were on the 31st floor and it did take a while to get down each time, waited 20 mins on our final day as wasn’t prepared to carry our luggage down 31 flights of stairs! We didn’t sleep brilliantly unfortunately, bed was comfortable, pillows were not and the air conditioning was so loud and seemed to come on whenever it wanted. We also unplugged the fridge as that was noisy. Complained one morning as I woke up during the night to a really strong smell of marijuana in our room- think the smell must have come through the vents from another room and it was awful, we then had to open a window and then couldnt get back to sleep as obviously it was noisy. Clarifies with the front desk in the morning that it was a non- smoking hotel and they said yes and did give us complimentary breakfast vouchers, but I would’ve just liked an undisturbed sleep! Great location for exploring but wouldn’t stay again. Water wasn’t always hot in the morning as everyone must’ve been showering so had to leave it to run for a while sometimes in an attempt to get it hot. The guys working in the lift and attempting to deal with the elevator WhatsApp group did their best and were actually the friendliest of all the staff, even though that wasn’t their usual role!

Hotel elevators did not work for 4 days. Lowest floor flooded. Fortunately, I can walk up and down 26 floors, but many were screwed. Staff did their best, but this is the single worst hotel experience I’ve had in 30 years on the road for work. Hilton is the lowest of the low.

Only 1-2 elevators working for the entire stay. Had to take the stairs a few times from the 18th floor due to the long wait. Fitness center closed due to flood. Health club across the street was made available. Coffee not replenished in room. We would have booked another hotel if we knew about the elevator wait times when we checked in

Hotel had a flood and only one elevator was working and being operated by an attendant, you had to send a text for them to go pick you up at your floor, and i know this is something out of their control. however, the hotel still charged full rate for each night. I think at a minimum they should give some type of percentage back to the guest.

Elevators broken, had to wait up to 20 mins to go down. Heater in room broken, no attempt to fix although they assured us someone was on the way twice. Shower water spills onto bathroom floor

Experience wasn’t the best. The elevator was broke and only one was operational at the time and had to wait extended periods of time to get down to the lobby sometimes 30 minutes waiting

Could be better

Staff are great great location but on arrival lifts were not working & for the whole stay they were only taking people up in the lifts as they were waiting on parts , in the bathroom their was no pressure for hot water & itjust came out in spurts and was only slightly warm
