Always construction in New York so surrounding buildings may have scaffolding up. Essex was a great stay and comfortable. Nice view of the park and staff were great. I felt it was elegant but not too posh. Would go again.

Overall, it is a nice place to stay. My only bad experience was the breakfast on my second day of stay. However, at checkout they rectified the situation to my satisfaction.

Great stay at the Essex House

Great greeting staff, excellent restaurant, clean rooms, great view. Had a small issue and was adressed immediately by the manager, she went above and beyond.

I asked the hotel to send someone to pick up the leftover take out of my lunch. No one came and it was left in front of the door until this morning. The bed was never made for the evening. No coffee to enjoy. What kind of a five start hotel is this? Marriott
