I'll be short here Good : - Location - Housekeeping worker's Bad : - Rooms weren't ready during chack in ( not until 8pm ) - Vouchers for breakfast at Tick Tock were horrible and useless for reimbursement of our rooms not being ready - Outdated mini rooms with bad odor and dirt on walls - Nothing included in room ( no extra blanket, no microwave, no fridge.. it cost extra apparently) - Heating in room was very weak - We asked to leave the laugagge for an hour at checkout ( had 5 laugagge and few bags with small flowers, water to go and got charged $5 per item. $65 total ) I don't recommend this hotel to anyone. stay away from this scam and save your trip

Lobby is beautiful; rooms & hallways not so much. The place desperately NEEDS A MAJOR RENOVATION. The carpet ancient, dirty and fraying. Beds are squishy and almost too soft. Hallway walls and floors are old and dirty too. Bathrooms are very small, as is the case in a lot of old buildings, I get it, but there are ways to do better. Get rid of the tubs they are very high sided and almost dangerous. Replace with a walk in shower only. It makes sense and fix the broken fixtures and the damaged tile. The warm pressure and shower head are awful. Sadly this hotel has such history and has so much potential but ownership (not necessarily Wyndham as they do not OWN the building -- a fact I only learned later) is not putting resources into renovating and upgrading a beautiful old building. There also was no fixing the small TV to get it to work and we just gave up. There could be better furniture but again that requires resources which as I said before are not going into this hotel. No notebook with menu from the Tick Tock diner that was just off the lobby and was definitely a decent place to get breakfast. Unless you're up high the noise and view are not great. All in all I could go on but as I said I get it, it's an old hotel but it's and old and tired hotel. It has so much potential.

The New Yorker Feeling Her Age

I’ve stayed at the New Yorker for years and love its storied history and architecture. Unfortunately no serious effort has been made to maintain it, let alone make improvements. In a two week period I stayed twice. The first trip my bathroom ceiling leaked from the room above and began to drip into my bathroom over the stay. The second room, the batteries in the door lock were dead requiring a trip back to the lobby to get a new room. In this room the television had no power either by the button or the remote and was plugged in. The staff is quick to show concern when advised, but their capability to improve the standards are limited. Great location though lol.

I booked this hotel because of its iconic status and rich history, assuming it would be a great stay. I was so wrong. This place is absolutely filthy. The bathroom reeked of sewage, and as soon as I stepped onto my floor, it felt like a scene straight out of American Horror Story. The walls are peeling, the lights flicker ominously, and the carpet looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in years. The shower? You’ll have to choose between scalding hot or ice-cold—there’s no in-between. The only redeeming quality is the convenient location near the subway, train, and Times Square. But trust me, that’s not enough to make up for how awful this stay was. Never again.
