At check in we did not receive a lot of communication - like where our room was, or room service info, or pool info - which is typical in hotels. We found our suite to be a good size. Definitely outdated - but that doesn't bother me - if it's comfy and clean. The couch wasn't super comfortable and as I found out that night, neither was the bed. Hard as a rock. I called front desk to get the pool hours and was told it was 9am-9pm. That's hugely disappointing - . Also pool is not as in pictures, not well maintained and hot tub lacked jets that worked. Hotel amenity information was inconsistent. There was a qr code in the room -which led to the website but the website is not great. In one place I saw that breakfast was provided - but we were never told about it and no information was listed any where for details. It also said that room service is available but when you click the link it goes to a restaurant somewhere else. UPDATE YOUR WEBSITE! It's so frustrating. the shower was good - except no conditioner which was really bad after being in a pool - the bathroom has ripped wallpaper and just overall blah. The main room of the suite was cold and we couldn't figure out how to get heat. apparently there is a little base board heater under the balcony door that you need to turn on. This was not obvious and also frustrating. No staff stand outs as we rarely saw any. Just an average and not fabulous stay. I moved the dresser and found a baby sock and some garbage.

The hotel is dated, smelly, loud, grubby and run down. You can get a much nicer and updated suite for the same price or less! There was a loud vibration in the bedroom like a generator or something. I moved to the pull out sofa and it was disgusting and uncomfortable and smelled of someone else's sweat and colonge. The hallways smelled strongly of food, the tv kept switching inputs on its own. The bathroom shower made a loud screeching sound. It was very loud all night, and you could hear people walking, closing doors and talking.

We had a nice stay. Staff were helpful and very nice. Downtown location is perfect for access to Hill, Canal and Elgin & Bank dining options. 20 minute walk to Byward and Shopping centre. Surrounding area and town itself needs attention to garbage and homeless. Being spring I hope it cleans up before we return in the summer.

Good for large families

Parking is an additional $38+tax but you can park until 4pm the day of checkout. Room was fine, dated, but had lots of amenities and room. Pool was basic but nice. We're a large family so the size of the two bedroom suite was much appreciated and we would stay again.

A couple of things

Everything was very nice except for 2 things. When rolling over in bed, the bed moved quite a bit. Perhaps something needs tightening? The other item: Everything is so technical using electronics, it is very difficult to find information about in-house restaurant menu, etc. Perhaps some hardcopy available upon request or better yet, offered. Bed sheets had not been changed, the clerk told me "sometimes the maid doesn't have the time, that's what happened". Nice property otherwise, pool is nice, area around feels safe, underground parking available. Good units, looks like apartments that have been repurposed. Good spot for a family that wants to cook a few meals during their stay.

My initial reservation with Joel and then Sarah who was the night auditor at Cartier was amazing. I made an error with my stay dates and Sarah was awesome. Once i arrived i was sent to a deluxe queen room rather than the Superior room I signed up for. The room was trash! This was not my first stay at Cartier and the room was small, you walk right into a kitchen that is not sectioned off and there was an ajoining room (never experienced that with previous visits) and the lock on that door did not work. When i called front desk I continued to get the same funky attitude from Dafnie thst i got during my check in, but the maintenance man was super nice and he came up and verified with Dafnie thst the door was broken. He tried to get her to get me a other room, prefera ly a Superior room which is what i ordered in the firet place. I could tell he was getting some pushback from her over the phone so he said he would go downstairs and talk to her in person. About 20 minutes went by and i got a call from the her saying they had anothee room for me. She then asked if i "made any mess" in the room and i let her know i sat on the couch and didnt even get my coat off. She then asked "did you go to the bathroom??" At that point i just laughed hung up and went and got my key for my new room. That room was what i expected and save for a disgustingly dirty tea kettle it was excellent and my gf and i had an excellent stay. Thank you to the maintenance man for saving the day!
