This was definitely a smaller branch of APA compared to the other ones in the vicinity. It is a further walk from the station and Ueno strip. Please note there is one elevator - we didn’t have too many issues with waiting for the elevator. The rooms felt a little older and our shower head was leaking. Something we wished we had was under the bed storage like other locations for our suitcases which our room did not have unfortunately.

The hotel is superbly clean and exceeded my expectations. All the staff members are friendly and serve with a smile. The check-in process was smooth, with all details clearly explained to me. The breakfast is not too bad. The pathway to Ueno Station is convenient and easy to follow. Perfect location that is near to all amenities.

Stayed here twice. Very good by all intl standards. Would stay here again. Important thing to note: check out is 10am! Learned this on lazy morning when I received a call at 10:12am saying check out is 10am. Quick scramble.

We really enjoyed our stay. The rooms are quite small, but that is no problem as we didn't travel to stay in our room a lot. It is in a good location, a good 5 to 10 minute walk to the trains. The rooms were clean, the staff were nice. They have a nice little breakfast every day. Lots of good, cheap eating places nearby. We enjoyed our stay.

Disappointing Experience from Start to Finish

My stay at this hotel was far from pleasant. Check in was an immediate red flag as two employees were actively arguing at the front desk when we arrived. It was uncomfortable and unprofessional. When we asked if the hotel could store two suitcases we wouldn’t need until after check out, the same two employees continued their disagreement. One of them, particularly aggressive, started interrogating us about the bags and what was inside, why we wanted to store them, and even asked if he could search us. The other employee, clearly confused and trying to help, ended up storing them despite the tension. We were then told we would not be allowed to access the bags until after check out, which was a very unusual and unwelcoming policy. Things didn’t improve during the stay. On the second day, I simply asked for one extra pillow. The same hostile employee from check in suddenly appeared from behind a curtain and bluntly told us that each guest is only allowed one pillow, no exceptions. Denying a basic comfort like an extra pillow is, frankly, baffling and reflects very poor service. As if that wasn’t enough, the elevator was out of service the next day and we were staying on the 12th floor. No apology, no offer of assistance, no alternative accommodations, nothing. Climbing 12 flights of stairs multiple times a day was exhausting and unacceptable for a hotel stay. For what it’s worth, check out was simple and quick, but that’s the only positive.
