Dont count on the skywalk after events.

We booked the Royal Sonesta because its proximity to the Target Center and the skywalk. The skywalk website said it would be open until midnight after the Matt Rife show, so we were rather disappointed when we got all the way back to the hotel and found the gate into the Sonesta closed at 930. If we were going to be going outside and crossing streets we could have stayed at any hotel in the area. Our room also had a window, but it went into the building.

The property is ok all around. It certainly lacked amenities that you would want at this price point. No daily room checkin to replace coffee etc. no glass cups in the room, bathroom was dirty with some mold growth on the tub and chipped paint. Unfortunately we booked a deluxe room and it overlooked the inside of some conference building with no natural light. When asked to change rooms, we were downgraded to a smaller room but it did overlook downtown. Important to note that ambulances went by constantly at night. Not great for light sleepers. Property is walkable to many good restaurants and the target center. The gym was absolute squaller. Dirty, equipment falling apart, food trash everywhere.

Able to check in early for a nominal fee. Staff very friendly. Being a VIP Expedia customer meant receiving a $15 credit with the Wood Paddle eatery attached to the hotel. Food was really good, along with service. Room good sized and beds very comfortable. Makes me sad to be here just one night. Convenient to walk to Target Center for a Timberwolf game.

Our stay was great! The only thing that was weird was our view out our hotel room as it led to some storage unit of the hotel. The staff was amazing.
