I have stayed here many times over the past twenty years while it was ontheave hotel and now the arthouse hotel. Great property and fantastic location. My two gripes are the now $39 fee they charge as you check in. Yuck that! And they woke us up at 9:30am on a Sunday morning with many taps on the door to service the room. Why stay in a hotel that has not yet mastered the art of servicing the rooms without waking up the guests? Otherwise, the public spaces are fantastic to hang out in or eat take out food in or to meet people or play board games. The rooms are nice and so are the bathrooms. The location is excellent and the staff is very friendly.

There was no hot water , had to call front desk , they told us to open sink and shower faucets at the same time , took over 20 mins for hot water , and in the morning water was not clear foggy had to use bottled water to wash my face and brush my teeth. Bed, linens and pillows were comfortable. Easy check in and out.

The room lacked electrical outlets near the bed for our phones. The ellipticals in the fitness center were grimy. The free breakfast was nice but the coffee was awful (cold - had to return the first cup) and the liquid in the half and half labeled pitcher wasn’t half and half. We generally like the Arthouse, but it was disappointing this time.

We love that area of NYC. It's quiet and has great accessibility to everything via the bus and subway. Coming to NYC for a few days every 2 to 3 months, I have been wanting to find our "go to" place. This is not it. It is exceptionally average with no information given upon check in regarding wi-fi or the amenities that the "resort fees" cover. We were meant to have breakfast included with our room, but there was no mention of whether or not that was even an option for guests (paid or otherwise). The lounging areas are cool though and it has a nice vibe downstairs. Seems like a much nicer place for someone wanting to hang out and grab a drink than be a hotel guest. That could also have to do with the noise that the heating system made. The bed was comfortable, which was awesome, but the heating was loud (earplugs are key...it's an old NYC building, that's to be expected). Overall, a 3 of possible 5 seems fair for the floor needing a good mopping, the toiletries needing to be refilled (not with water), and the front desk staff being unaware of our existence until our key cards became inactive on our last night.

The location is good (near subway and CVS). The vibe of the place is nice with the weekend performances, the nice places to relax in the common area and the coffee shop. Also, the bed and pillow were very comfortable.
