I will not be back to this resort

The resort is beautiful, the waitstaff is awesome and that's about it. It is damn near impossible to reach someone by phone at this resort and now I see why. I missed my flight and was a day late arriving and was told I would be able check-in in the morning. I arrived at the resort at around 11,stood in line for nearly an hour, and was told I wouldn't be able to check-in until 3. At 2:45 I decided to go back and try checking in again I waited in line about 15 minutes and was told my room STILL wasn't ready, I was pissed! The guy behind the desk said he usually tells people 3:30 I told him if I come back at 3:30 I didn't want to wait in line again by the time he finished doing whatever 3:30 rolled around and he said the room STILL wasn't ready, with no explanation, I almost lost it! Thankfully another employee came over and managed to find something for us. The staff was supposed to bring my luggage to my room said it would take a while so I ended up taking the luggage myself. The walk to my room was also a nightmare, I got lost, and the layout was very confusing at first. The room itself was cute, but smelled of mildew. The bathroom had almost no privacy and when it was time to go to bed I noticed the bedding was still damp. The unlimited food/ drinks was cool but very mediocre food, the Hunters Steakhouse was by far the worst! My sister's wedding was beautiful, even though we got rained on. She is the only reason I came to the resort, personally, I wouldn't go there again...

Overall great trip. The customer service was subpar I would say. Get Diamond club access, otherwise you feel unwelcomed, mean employees, long wait times for anyone to greet you during breakfast.

HIGHLY recommend this resort for families with kids. There are so many child activities, entertainment, pools, lazy rivers. The staff and service is exceptional. The food choices are incredible- the restaurants and the buffets. Booking through Expedia gave so many benefits, notably our own dining area that was reserved, in an ideal spot and attentive service staff. I don’t have one complaint for the entire stay expect that we couldn’t stay longer then 6 days. The lobby bar was great for a drink to unwind, the cafe had incredible drinks. Really there was not one thing I would change. *** My only advice is to confirm that the Waterpark is open during your stay as it was under construction during ours but we went with a child under 2 so it was irrelevant.

Overall, I had a good experience with the staffs but having a couple rude female staff at their cafe does ruin the trip. Hotel area is nice and clean. The hotel host was helpful. There are a lot of activities and pools. Food wasn’t that good, seems like all of their food are usually premade they’ll reheat it.

If you have low expectations, this is your place.

If it wasn’t for our wonderful butler Enrique I would give it a 0 star rating… he literally is one of the few good things I can say about this place. The pools are also nice. Check in they are so confused. Like they don’t expect people to be arriving lol. Gave us the wrong room and basically said tough crap. We booked presidential suite and were told it’s sold out.. like what? That’s what we booked. Get out in a crap room. Enrique sorted it out for us the following day and around 4pm we finally got our $1200 a night room. Much better but don’t except to use the tub on the balcony unless you want to bathe in filth. Even asking housekeepers to clean it they do not. Rooms are all hot. Do not go super low a/c. Food overall SUCKS. Breakfast is same buffet or starve. Buffet is gross. Teppanaki was our only meal we enjoyed. Room service is close to 2 hours, and won’t be correct. Place has potential but management is slacking so therefore the rest of employees are too. It seems no one really cares. Hopefully Enrique will be picked up by a better hotel group and go where someone of his calibre should be. It’s not Royalton splash.

We paid for an excursion through the hotel but were forced to pay again at the excursion site because the documentation given to us by the resort was incorrect. We provided both receipts — from the resort and the vendor — yet the charge (about $900 USD) is still on our checkout bill. We reported this immediately and followed up multiple times over two days, but the resort refused to fix the issue. Hector, at the Diamond Club concierge desk, made things worse by twisting our words and trying to discredit us over small details (“How was it two days ago if it was just yesterday?”) — completely ignoring the actual problem. It felt like he was more focused on invalidating our concern than resolving it. There also seems to be a questionable relationship between the resort and the excursion vendor — possibly profiting from double charges at guests’ expense. Whether that’s intentional or just ignored, it’s unacceptable. We’re filing disputes with our credit card, Royalton corporate, and Mexico’s PROFECO. This trip was supposed to be a luxury experience, but the service, lack of accountability, and treatment we received were beyond disappointing. Avoid this resort unless you’re okay with being overcharged and dismissed.

This resort was beautiful. All of the amenities are top notch. The only negative I can give this property is that service in the restaurants is a bit slow. But other than that everything was wonderful. Very clean. Stunning views. And relaxing vacation. Side note: I didn't bring small children, but there is a ton of stuff for them! Highly Recommend this resort!
