Our check-in experience at Hyatt Regency Amsterdam was far below the standards expected from a Hyatt property.
The front desk staff member who checked us in was rude and dismissive. We arrived at 10:30 AM after a long flight with a small child and politely asked about an early room. His response was sarcastic and unprofessional.
We were repeatedly told to wait with no clear explanation. At 2:40 PM, we were told the room was being inspected and to bring our keys shortly, but everything was then delayed until and beyond the 3:00 PM check-in time. Guests who arrived after us were given rooms before we were.
While waiting, this same staff member had another employee tell us how to sit on the lobby couch, yet later did not correct a large family whose teenager jumped and lay on the couch.
That said, Jenny was amazing during our stay—professional, kind, and truly helpful. Unfortunately, the terrible check-in experience with the front desk staff member negatively affected our overall impression of the Hyatt brand.
