The staff were very helpful and pleasant. The rooms are in need of refurbishing and the feel is more 3 star. I believe I should have been made aware that the hotel is housing asylum seekers on the first 3 floors. I only found this out when I decided to take the stairs to the lobby and saw many people lingering. It is not common to have security present in the lobby of the hotel. Most of the dining room was sectioned off and the menu was very limited. To be clear. I am not against anyone seeking asylum, but do believe people should be made aware, as there is no security posted on the stairs to prevent access to paying guests from floor 3 up. As paying guests we submit our passport or ID cards to identify who we are. I cannot say the same is true for guests on level 3 down, which made me nervous and grateful I was travelling without my family.

If you like a very firm bed, this is the hotel for you. I still rated the hotel high because it’s gorgeous, accommodating, has lots of amenities and spacious rooms.

Reception staff to be trained to hotel's policies

We checked in as a family with a pet (dog). We found the person at reception being rude when realised we had a dog with us. Not what we would expect from a dog friendly hotel. We asked if we could take our dog at the restaurant during breakfast and after the initial negative response, we showed the hotel's policy stating dogs are allowed in a dedicated seperate area. He was totally unaware of this policy and we felt as not wanted in the hotel with our dog. Thankfully the lady responsible for the breakfast area was very polite and welcoming, she set up a table for us and even aksed if we wanted anything for the dog. Apart from this, the rooms were great, clean and cosy.

The hotel staff we’re very friendly and extremely helpful. The beds were very comfortable and the bathroom was clean. It is a 20 to 30 minute drive from city center, but even given that I felt this hotel was a good choice.
