I recently stayed at this hotel, and unfortunately, it was far from the experience I expected based on the photos and descriptions online. While the room was decent in size, cleanliness was a major issue. The floors were dirty, with food remnants behind the couch and under the furniture, clearly indicating they hadn’t been swept properly. To make matters worse, I found dead bugs on the bathroom wall and under the sink, which was incredibly off-putting. It’s hard to take seriously a hotel that advertises itself as “sophisticated” and “upscale” when the reality is so far from that. The room had additional problems too. The closet didn’t even have a door, leaving the space feeling unfinished. It seemed like this property had been a rundown motel at some point and then half-heartedly renovated. The water smelled like sewer when showering, which was a huge issue. The TVs were small, outdated, and lacked smart features, and the limited channels offered didn’t help. Wi-Fi didn’t work at all, which was a huge inconvenience. On top of all that, there were no curtains, just broken shutters that didn’t block light or offer privacy. The walls were paper-thin, and I could hear everything from the people above me until 3 a.m. The service at the front desk was equally disappointing—rude, uninterested staff made the experience even worse. Overall, this hotel didn’t meet my expectations in any way. There are far better, genuinely upscale hotels at the same price or even less. I cannot recomme

I am disappointed in the room cleanliness. The bedside table had potato chips in it from a previous person. The stairs were filthy. One sink in the bathroom had to run for ten minutes to get hot. There was no lotion in the dispenser and the shampoo had been watered down to almost complete water. The ceiling fan was squeaking so loudly I couldn't sleep with it on. The door to our floor had been taped so the security key was.pointless. When we arrived at our door it was not even closed. The Murphy bed had stains on it. For the price we paid for this hotel I expected better.

We stayed at Nicely remodeled hotel room with jetted tub. Clean, warm, neat, quiet..... until heater/ac starts working. It's a tractor in the room that turns on and off as soon as you fall asleep. I wish I wouldn't turn it on. Oh well... I did at 4 am so I can sleep in comfortable hotel bed. The other thing that was kind of interesting ... to turn the shower on you hav to use man power... it was a challenge to pull the handle. It's probably easy fix for handy man but not for us as we only stayed a night. Oh well we liked the stay. We love Monterey. We will come back. ...... even if the tractor still there. :).

The room above when they took a shower water was leaking from the ceiling into our bathroom floor early 8am couldn’t go inside because there was water all over the bathroom floor couldn’t get to shower I all most fell down had to leave our room. There was no one there to clean up the mess we didn’t get another room they cleaned up late so we left the next morning early before someone took a shower above us they were no help at all about giving us another room never will go back paid so much money for them not to even give me another room

1) Leaky toilet. 2) Loud fridge. 3) Loud air conditioning. 4) Loud hotel guests walking above us. 5) Our blanket wasn’t warm enough, but the heater made too much noise. 6) My key didn’t work. 7) The hotel staff was rude. 8) No one ever cleaned our room. 9) The coffee machine leaked. 10) This was our 30th year staying at the Mariposa (because it’s only a block from our sister’s house and she hosts Thanksgiving every year). This hotel USED to be wonderful, but there is no pride of ownership and it is obviously run down. None of our family will ever stay there again.

The room was very nice and clean, the bed was lumpy, and the pillows were not soft. The pool/spa area was nice, breakfast was also better than expected, however they only had one toaster. The clerk at check is was not delightful.
