Close to Monterey Aquarium

Stayed 3 nights and it was close to Monterey Aquarium. The room was comfortable and the suite was a good choice with kids. The view is not great when looking down. Only disappointed thing about this hotel was the pool was cold and the jacuzzi was not hot at all. There was NO communication and that wasn’t okay.

Nice place to stay for the weekend, professional front desk. The walls are fairly thin - I can easily hear next doors conversations when trying to sleep. One ceiling light would flicker on and off every 5-10 minutes. Overall clean room.

Staff was friendly and accommodating. Room was cool took some time to warm up. The towel were like gym towels. I got what I was looking for. However, I enjoy comfort and things like snacks or a store front for anti may be missing say a toothbrush or paste.

It was great. Mostly clean. Bed comfortable. Great to have coffee in the room. But 2 main reasons why it’s 4 instead of 5. #1. We had a late check in. I called before front desk closed as requested. A helpful woman explained the night person would message me a lockbox number and combo. This was early afternoon. When it was 8:45pm (office closes at 9pm) I called to inquire the said info. First the person argued with me saying they sent it via Expedia. I kindly reminder her we booked on Orbitz. She then back pedaled and said I should have it in 5 mins. 10 mins later I called. She told me she sent it. I asked to resend. It finally came in. Please know I have great cell reception where I was calling from. If I hadn’t bugged them we probably would’ve slept in our car. #2 hair pile in the corner of the shower and shower leaked a lot of water when using.

A hidden gem!

I love the Stargazer Inn and Suites and will definitely return here if ever in Monterey again. It was clean as a whistle! Note that some rooms have hard floors (no carpeting) so I'm glad I brought our slippers. The indoor pool was a highlight! The pool is salt water, though the hot tub seemed to use regular chlorine. Both were well maintained with no funky smell afterward in our suits, which I greatly appreciated. All this and the price couldn't be beat. Loved it!

I would definitely not recommend this hotel! Extremely out dated, the shower water pours out onto the floor when showering, the office smelled horrible like Mildew, the room fridge did not work and when we opened it smelled like mold. The pool water had a foul odor too it. I can’t even describe the smell. The jacuzzi did not heat up, the jacuzzi jets were bubbling so fast the water was continuously over flowing out of the jacuzzi. When I booked I told them I would be paying when I arrived at check in time which was 3:00. They charged my card First thing that morning before I even arrived for the scheduled check in time and required a additional 200.00 dollar deposit on top of the room fee. My list can go on and on. They had plastic chairs and outdated office chairs all around the outside of the rooms. The pillows were as hard as rocks.This was a very unpleasant experience and I will never stay here or recommend this hotel
