The steveson hotel was small than i thought but it was spot on for my basic needs. Driving Proximity to the wharf and Monterey Bay Aquarium only 5-8 minutes. Room and beds were clean and suprisingly comfortable than expected. Slepted 4ppl. Bathroom was basic, walk in nice hot shower, extra towels. Coffee maker, small ref, heating/ air all worked but fyi must use controls on the wall not unit. Had free coffee in the lobby, an elevator (3 storys) and additional under ground parking. Had decent pool but was to cold to swim. Next door on corner is a cheveron/mart and across the street was a Dennys. 10-12minute Walkable distant to the beach/ wharf,a park with a lake (park was nice very kid friendly and multi purpose)and places to eat. One of the only things, i thought and wished it had was a free continental breakfast. Must have been on the website before. And the upper parking was tight hence below parking and front desk said street parking can park till 11am, also at night seemed safe, well lit and fairly quiet late night and earlier morning for being on a corner lot, and a holiday weekend. Better pricing considering last minute booking and proximity. The front desk was cordial and informative. Overall, was a good stay and i would book again.

Clean and basic with friendly staff

The hotel is dated and the room is basic. But, the staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the area. The room and the hotel in general are clean and tidy. We didnt use the pool but it was clean and open for use. The bed was clean and comfortable. There was tea and coffee in the room and extra in the reception area. There is plenty of free parking, with camera security. The hotel is 10 mins walk from fishermans Whalf and there is a Dennys over the road that do a nice breakfast.

Smartest Stay in Monterey for GS Theater show!

We were so happy we decided to stay at The Stevenson for a show at Golden State Theater. It s an easy 5 minute walk to the show & we had a great meal & beers across the street at Alvarado Brewery! The hotel is older but very comfortably updated. Front desk staff were awesome… friendly & extremely helpful. We’ll definitely stay here again!

Overall it s an OK hotel but putting a safe box in the place where a microwave should be above a refrigerator is terrible idea.

Clean and comfortable, no bells and whistles

Clean, efficient. No bells and whistles but the bed and pillows were very comfortable and it was clean. We didn’t have any issues so didn’t need service but the person at check in was nice. I didn’t realize you had to ask to have bed made and room tidied by the night before so when we came back to an unmade room the first day I was surprised. There is a note referring to this but I didn’t see it so that was my mistake. There wasn’t onsite parking for us because our vehicle was too tall (f-250 truck) to go to underground parking but we found free street parking easily and close for each night.

This hotel is completely dated and too expensive for what you get. The room carpet looks dirty and so old. It was a mistake staying here.
