Lovely motel right on the lake. Quiet, comfortable and clean room which was a good size, with good amenities and a nice balcony and lake views.The staff were lovely and very helpful. Taupo is a lovely town with lots of cafes, bars, restaurants. Plenty to do.

Fantastic location for a hotel right on Lake Taupo. Run by a lovely couple, very friendly and helpful. Rooms are large with large windows opening to a wonderful view of the lake. Parking is provided by can be a challenge when hotel is full. Would definitely stay again.

We thought we would pay extra and upgrade to a room with a Lake view. When we got there it was a peek a boo view of the lake with buildings blocking the lake view. They didn’t even put us on the third floor which would be a true lake view. Also the air conditioner was not working at first and brought it to the attention of the front. He came to reset it and it came on but then there was no way to adjust the temperature even set it to 26 C and it was still freezing cold and the noise of it clicking kept us up the first night. We finally turned it off. I would not call this a luxury resort. The lake next to it was not as pretty and clean as Lake Wanaka. Not worth the money.

We are very surprised by the excellent reviews of this hotel. Positives - the rooms were spacious and very clean Negatives - rooms were dated, hotel locked main door at 7.30pm then you had to come through side door, springs had gone in the settee, not a proper shower it was in a bath, admit it was a Jacuzzi bath but there were set times you could use the Jacuzzi bath, We did not find the staff that friendly either, also no welcome bottle of water in the room. We had to drive to the Woolworths which was about 1 1/2 miles away to get water. Also no lift we had to lug our heavy suitcase up the stairs.

Absolutely fantastic! Location is perfect - love the gate to the lakeside pathway. Pools are devine. Cooking facilities all exceptional. Like a luxurious home away from home.

We absolutely loved our stay here. The staff are so lovely, the location is incredible right on the lake, and our room was perfect and had the most amazing view. The pool was heated and we LOVED it — we spent at least 3 hours a day in it after our activities that day. Thank you to the team at Reef Resort, y’all make this a very special place.

The staff were lovely and helpful. The poolside room was very convenient and great after the water activities we did. There wasn't enough parking spaces for all the cars on our first night there but otherwise, we loved it!
