Our room was ready when we checked in at 12:30pm even though check in is advertised for 3pm. Our only complaint is how long it took to check in! They sat us on a couch in the lobby and had to talk to at least 3 people before we were given keys to our room. Even if the room hadn't been ready, that would have been okay. We were prepared to hang at the pool or walk around. Instead we had to sit on a couch in the lobby for an hour while we were checked in. We wished the process would have been much faster.

This is my second time back at Unico. My first time was in 2021 and it was amazing and this is why I came back. This time around, I was happy to learn Unico is expanding and I was brought into the presentation to purchase a membership which I wasn’t too fond of in terms of how many people we saw and had to decline. It was over an hour of our time in the morning and we saw 6 people in total, each trying to pitch us a sale when we stated this might be the last vacation we take for some time because we are purchasing a house. I think if someone has a major priority or shares any reason for declining the membership we should not have to be spoken to by that many people. Granted, in return we were pleased with an 80 min couples massage for free, however I think if a guest declines the offer and has already sat for an hour, this should end the conversation. Some guests love luxury in doses with no financial strings attached. It was a lot of pushing to get you to do a down payment. We just wanted to enjoy our day. The staff overall was lovely. Just not the right time for us!

Pro: Really loved our trip here! From the moment we walked in everyone was so friendly and welcoming! Room was clean and beautiful view. Food was pretty good, with a lot to choose from. 3 pools which all had something different to offer. Loved sitting on the beach to, was so pretty. Con: this place really lacks outside entertainment and atmosphere at night. There was 1 bar open at times, but never anyone there. The inside lobby was the main hanging area, but who wants to sit inside on vacation!! Food reservations fill up really quick, so need to make them early. Skip the 1 hour talk about their promotions, as it will turn into 2.5! Really enjoyed our time, but would try another resort next time.

Staff was unmemorable and some were borderline rude, slow check in, the resort was boring, the “membership” was weird and pointless, they try to con you into a time share meeting, the exec looking people constantly walking around gave it weird vibes, lack of shows/nightlife, palmera lounge sucked, loud weddings I could hear through my door for multiple nights, music so loud I could dance to in my room, lacklustre. I could go on.

The staff, amenities, cleanliness, and restaurants were great! I recommend bringing extra cash for tips. MURA House was the highlight of our dining experience. The only thing that would have been nice is to have a pool that was a little further away from the noisier pool, if you are truly looking for a quiet place to relax. The music can sometimes feel like you are in an Amphitheatre from your balcony, so it can kind of be annoying when it starts in the morning. Outside of that, the wildlife, beach, and ambiance was a 10/10.

Our host, Laura, was top notch. From the moment we met her, after being awake for 20 hours, she made us feel like we were home. She tended to our every need and sat and talked to us by the pool. She was the BEST!! At the end of our stay, our transportation that we had arranged never showed up to take us to the airport. Laura stepped in and immediately called us a taxi and we make it to the airport with plenty of time to spare. We felt so lucky to have Laura as our host for our stay. Our room was beautiful and spotless. The staff responded to our only need (more towels) on the second day in a timely manner. We stayed on the first floor so we didn't have ocean views; however, we still had a beautiful view of the plants, trees and pool. We still felt like we had privacy. The soaking tub on the balcony was amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return soon!

Our room was great and the staff was very courteous and considerate throughout out stay. My only criticism is your check in process. My girlfriend and I were tired from traveling and the process to check in took 90 minutes. Most of that time was taken up by trying to politely decline not wanting to purchase a time share. My advice to you is to ditch trying to sell your guests a time share the second they walk through the door. It made us uncomfortable and does not set a great tone for your stay there. Why? Simply because we saw that individual 2 other times throughout our stay and had to have the same conversation. No means no. It's a tale as old as time. We then found ourselves having to avoid that individual every time we caught sight of them because we didn't want to have same conversation a third or fourth time.

The service at Unico was superb. From the moment we entered the lovely grounds and were greeted by friendly staff, who in minutes had us from tired travelers, to feeling refreshed and excited to be there. Our event coordinator, Laura Flores went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable and effortless. Our stay at Unico was one of the most pleasant and enjoyable vacations of recent memory. There was thought and effort put into a million little touches that made the complete package a wonderful experience. We're already planning our next visit.
