Great location next to St Giles' Cathedral, staff all really friendly and helpful. Nice surprise that there was no charge for storing my bag on the day I checked out! Would happily stay again next time I'm in Edinburgh.

One of the lifts was down for maintenance during our stay which made getting up to our room a little inconvenient. The pool was also closed which was something we were looking forward to using. The staff did offer to shuttle us somewhere else to use their pool but we didn’t want the hassle to opted not to. Overall it’s a great clean hotel with a nice breakfast offering and friendly staff. Fantastic location right next to Calton Hill and a short walk to the Waverly station.

We stayed one night. We hung out in the lobby because we were a group of seven and had bought pizza for dinner. It was busy, clean and very pleasant. There were quite a few people there; both families visiting the zoo or vacationing and business people. We did not use the pool or hot tub but it looked clean and inviting. We had the hot breakfast in the morning and it was good. The variety of options was enough that everyone got what they wanted. The place was very busy, but everything was kept neat and tidy. The staff did not allow the dirty teaspoons and trash from empty sugar packets and used tea bags to mess up the coffee area and there were always plates, cups and items replenished before they ran out. I was impressed because the turnover of guests was high. A server graciously gave me a to go cup when I went for a second coffee and realized I had no time to enjoy it. The staff were all kind and respectful. The place is old but things are kept up and neat. I enjoyed the stay.
