Disappointing

Upon check in I was told that I had been upgraded to a loft. As a disabled person, I was not keen on the thought of struggling to climb 12 or more stairs to use the bathroom or get to bed. Getting my suitcase up the stairs? I was told that there were no other available rooms. Eventually, a solution was found and I was moved into the king room I had booked. Once check in was complete, I was told that parking was full and I would have to find street parking. Seeing that I was unimpressed, the staff member suggested I park in front where hours are restricted but he assured me I would be okay. The second night, no such luck and I had to haul my aching hips and knees with all my baggage from the back of the building. One elevator was down so there were very long waits. There is a tea and coffee station in the breakfast area, around the clock, which is great but no cups are offered so if you don’t have your own travel mug, you’re out of luck. The cups provided in the room are so tiny, it’s not worth using those. Soundproofing is virtually non-existent so getting to sleep early at night isn’t easy. The only vending machines are at the parkade level and they’re finicky. Overall, disappointment after disappointment. On a positive note - while the staff was trying to find me a room without stairs, I received a call from the hospital about a family member. The staff member was very empathetic and helped me feel a little better. Also, the breakfast staff is really great!

Really enjoyed the view from our balcony and the complementary breakfast was a nice option. Staff were great, very friendly and very accommodating. Our last night we had some very noisy guests directly above us, moving furniture around and stomping and running back and forth which lasted from 9pm to 2am and disrupted our sleep. We notified the front desk 3 times. And 3 times they attempted to quiet the guests which lasted all of 5 minutes each time. The attendant did his best but unfortunately we didnt get much sleep. The hotel did end up comping us for the noise disturbance plus paid our parking which was nice so we were satisfied. One thing that wasnt satisfactory however was that the elevator broke down on day 3 of our 4 day stay. I understand that they break down and sometimes its hard to get maintenance to fix them right away but there was only one elevator left for dozens and dozens of guest plus hotel staff to use which was very inconvenient at breakfast/ check out when everyone was using it. We ended up having to drag our luggage down the stairway, then outside then down to the parking garage after waiting 20 minutes for the elevator to not show up. All-in-all it was a good stay, i havent had to deal with many noisy guests in past hotel stays elsewhere so they are usually a one-off. We would certainly stay there again in the hopes that they have resolved their elevator issues.

I love the old time feel of the building. But the rooms are new and spacious. There was a strong mold smell in the bathroom. The breakfast is amazing. So many choices and freshly prepared. Have stayed previously and would stay again.

Very minimal things included in this hotel. Breakfast food was just ok. It was overcrowded every morning and we had to wait to be seated. Then we asked for 2 extra coffee pods from housekeeping and they said it would be an extra charge! Bathrooms are outdated. I would not stay here again. The loft has a bedroom 40’stairs high but one bathroom so this was not convenient. Futon was old and worn. Only 1 elevator working. It’s an old hotel with paint slapped on it to make it look newer but it’s poorly designed and not well kept. Find a nicer hotel elsewhere.

Very personable check in. Good selection at breakfast. Like the filtered water dispenser next to the ice machine. Had both a kettle and coffee machine in the room. Would appreciate a grab bar in the tub. Accessible rooms are also available.

Very friendly staff. Minor issues were addressed promptly. The breakfasts were good. Just wish there was a bit more variety. We would definitely stay there again.
