A Peaceful & Stylish Escape at Graduate Roosevelt

I recently stayed at the Graduate Roosevelt Island by Hilton, and it was such a unique and refreshing experience. The hotel has a clean, modern aesthetic with fun, collegiate-themed decor that makes it feel both classy and playful. My room was spotless, with a comfortable bed, big windows, and a beautiful view of the East River and Manhattan skyline. It was the perfect mix of cozy and contemporary. One of the best parts of staying here was the location. Roosevelt Island is quiet and calm—like a hidden gem right in the middle of New York City chaos. The tram ride to Manhattan is quick and scenic, and I loved that I could return to somewhere peaceful after spending the day in the city. Staff were friendly and professional, and check-in was smooth. I also appreciated the thoughtful amenities and the overall attention to detail in the design. My only small issue was that dining options on the island are limited at night, so it’s worth planning ahead for meals or hopping back to Manhattan for dinner. Overall, I’d absolutely recommend the Graduate to anyone looking for a stylish, tranquil place to stay in NYC with easy access to the city and stunning views. Really like this place. Cool laid back vibe in an area that’s very walkable and with the tram and subway nearby, easy access to Manhattan. I would have appreciated being told what the resort fee was going to be as I checked in rather than at the end, as it did catch me by surprise, which I didn’t like. Maybe this is something the hotel can train their staff to make people aware of, especially if they aren’t from the US.

Just enough removed from the city core that you feel like you can breath, but completely adjacent to all Manhatten has to offer. Great food, walking trails, helpful staff. Cool place, would stay here again!

Overall I really like this hotel. The only problems I had were the lousy food in the restaurant ( although the wait staff was great) and the accompanying lack if a shop to buy snacks. The other things were the hard mattresses and the cost of getting a taxi into Grand Central… $60 to get essentially an uber that the desk person called. Maybe a relative of hers?Other than that we liked it very much.

Convenient location with comfortable beds, but service and amenities fell short. Pros: comfortable stay (spacious beds), great location and clean at check-in. Cons: They charged my card twice, claiming it was to ensure I had funds, although I'd already paid in full. Housekeeping inconsistency - our room wasn't cleaned for 3 days. Limited amenities - No coffee/tea maker, water bottles, or in-room water heater. Getting water required a trip to the 4th floor fountain. No dinning options - no breakfast or room service, so we had to order meals externally. This Hotel works if you need a simple place to sleep in. However, payment hiccups, the lack of daily Housekeeping, basic amenities maybe inconvenient for some travelers.

Our flight was delayed to the next morning by weather. We arrived the next morning at 0900. We were told that our booking of three nights had been cancelled and was non refundable. I had sent an email to the hotel via Hotel.com link informing of the delay to our check-in. On arrival the receptionist was adamant that the room was cancelled and no email had been received. After much persuasion I managed to get her to look for the email again properly, this took quite a while, not what you want after 3 hours sleep, and after much sucking of teeth she begrudgingly re-instated our final two nights without apology. The resort fee I feel is extortionate, as arriving on a Saturday i'm unlikely to get my free laundry done in time for Monday, Resort credit was not valid in the rooftop bar which was closed 45 minutes early on the Sunday and on a sightseeing trip to NYC i'm unlikely to at 63 to use the gym. The room was clean with a view but with no in-room tea or coffee making. I found the decoration of the bathroom rather disturbing as trying to pee with "machine gun Kelly's wife" watching you and another criminal watching over your shoulder can be off putting.

Great property. The bed is comfortable, but if you’re planning to go in the evening, make plans because the elevator gets busy with the rooftop which gets really annoying and the valley parking at $70 a night and there’s nowhere else to park.
