The receptionist was friendly though difficult to understand. I didn’t actually need photo ID, though had been told I did. Had to tell the person next door to turn off TV at 1.30am, could hear everything through the wall. Space in the room fine, I’ll give 3.5 on trip advisor

Booked a twin room well in advance only to be told when we arrived that they had no twin rooms! Hung around for 20 mins and someone in management miraculously found us a twin room. Very strange and a bit annoyjng

Staff very friendly and helpful, main bar/reception area was nice, bar was reasonably priced. (We didn't have breakfast as part of our stay). We were able to park on site in the underground car park - which has maybe 15 spaces and is quite small to manoeuvre within. Bed was comfortable and linens/towels were clean. Room was on the small side but it had everything we needed and the shower had good water flow. The downside to staying on a Friday night was that there were several music venues/nightclubs on the nearby street, and one had speakers outside (not sure why as it was heavily raining all evening/night and about 7 degrees C). Whilst not exceptionally loud it could be heard from our room until 2.30am so our sleep was not great. Not the hotels fault and they had placed us in a room as far from the source as possible. Location was good, very close to the Bullring Centre and main New Street shopping and a short walk to the canal areas.

The room in the Ibis although clean and tidy was not particular big. Nor was there a lock on the bathroom door. The staff were very pleasant but there was no chef on the Sunday when were were hoping to get a lunchtime snack. The most annoying thing about the stay was that their welcome email said that the hotel car park cost £15 per day but if it was full you could use a partner car park at a discounted rate. On arrival I was told that the hotel car park was full and to park in the car park opposite. That car park showed a cost of £24 per day but when I asked at the hotel reception about the discounted rate I was told there was no discount. This meant that I had to sort out alternative parking which I had not anticipated. I feel that they should make it clearer that if their car park is not available the nearest car park costs a lot more.

Staff were lovely, great customer service and friendly. Rooms are very small, open the door and you will fall onto the bed! Bathroom tidy, but the shower was clean, pressure good and lots of hot water. We stayed on a Friday night and the night club close bar was playing a lot of base till at least 1am. Being ear plugs like I did! Breakfast was ok, eggs cooked order which was a nice touch.

Staff at reception were very professional and welcoming. My room 342 (I think it was was awful) it smelt of death, the carpets were filthy, the desk was cracked, the bathroom windows were open with a constant buzzing noise, sounded like a fan but it wasn't a fan for my room it must have been below. Whilst the bed did have clean sheets I was dubious about whether the mattress and mattress topper were very clean. Should I ever attend another conference at this hotel I will not be staying here.
